Why Bet on Real Sociedad?
Not even the most pessimistic Real Sociedad fan could have imagined such a start. With nine points, they sit 17th in the table, and the only reason they’re not in the relegation zone is their “better” goal difference compared to Valencia.
They have two wins, three draws, and five losses, scoring 10 goals and conceding 14, while Valencia, who they drew 1-1 with in the season opener, has the same record but has allowed 16 goals.
Real Sociedad is coming off a 2-1 win over Sevilla, thanks to a brace from Mikel Oyarzabal, the team’s top scorer with four goals and the only player with more than one. At home, they’ve earned both of their victories, collecting seven of a possible 15 points. This week, they also played against Negreira from the Preferente Galicia, winning 0-3 in the Copa del Rey.
On the downside, Yangel Herrera has suffered another injury. The Venezuelan midfielder, who joined this season but had been sidelined, made his return a few days ago versus Celta, but was forced off after 33 minutes against Sevilla due to a new setback. Alongside him on the injury list is Orri Steinn Óskarsson, while Takefusa Kubo remains doubtful.
Why Bet on Athletic Club?
Athletic Club sits higher in the table but is still struggling with inconsistency. They’re ninth with 14 points after four wins, two draws, and four losses, scoring nine goals and conceding 10. They’re averaging less than a goal per game, and only Real Oviedo (7) has scored fewer. Moreover, no player on the team has scored more than once this season.
They started strong with three consecutive wins, but then earned just one point from the next 12 available. They bounced back with a 2-1 win over Mallorca and a 1-1 away draw against Elche, but this past weekend they were upset by Getafe, losing 0-1 at home. Away from home, they’ve earned only one point from their last nine.
The ‘Rojiblancos’ are dealing with numerous injuries, including Iñaki Williams, Beñat Prados, and Maroan Sannadi. Nico Williams and Aymeric Laporte are doubtful, though both have returned to training with the group. Meanwhile, Íñigo Lekue and Yeray Álvarez are suspended.
Final Betting Analysis: Real Sociedad vs. Athletic Club
No matter the position in the standings, a derby is a derby. Matches like this are played at a different pace, driven more by passion than by style, which is why we believe it will end in a hard-fought draw, with more fouls than goals.
