With one match still pending between teams at the bottom of the table, Matchday 17 of the Premier League has come to an end, and the title race remains unchanged.

Arsenal had to work hard but edged out a narrow win away at Everton to stay on top of the standings, maintaining the same gap over Manchester City and Aston Villa, who sit second and third after beating West Ham and Manchester United, respectively.

Chelsea were one of the teams that slipped slightly after drawing with Newcastle, while Liverpool climbed up the table following an away victory over Tottenham.

At the bottom, Wolverhampton remain winless this season and suffered another defeat, and it seems that theyโ€™re sealing their relegation even before reaching the halfway point of the campaign.

Newcastle were unable to hold on to the lead they built in the first half and ended up drawing 2โ€“2 with Chelsea in a result that did little for either side.

The first half belonged entirely to the hosts, and it started early. Just four minutes in, they opened the scoring after a great recovery by Anthony Gordon, which led to a cross from the right that the English forward himself finished, only to be denied by Robert Sรกnchez. The rebound fell to Nick Woltemade, who tapped it into an empty net for the 1โ€“0.

At the 20-minute mark, the two attackers combined again, with Gordon delivering a cross from the left and the German forward finishing from close range to make it 2โ€“0.

Woltemade had two more clear chances in the first half but failed to convert, misses that would prove costly later on.

In the second half, Chelsea came out aggressively and pulled one back just four minutes in, at the 49th minute, with a brilliant free-kick goal from Reece James.

The equalizer arrived in the 66th minute following a long kick from Sรกnchez that Joรฃo Pedro controlled with his head, taking advantage of poor marking and a slip by Malick Thiaw to run in alone against Aaron Ramsdale and calmly finish to the side.

The โ€˜Magpiesโ€™ later had a couple of opportunities to win the match but could not capitalize, and had to settle for a draw that leaves them in 11th place with 23 points. The โ€˜Bluesโ€™, meanwhile, sit fourth with 29 points, 10 behind leaders Arsenal.

Manchester City showed no mercy against West Ham, cruising to a 3โ€“0 victory behind a standout performance from Erling Haaland to stay right on Arsenalโ€™s heels.

The Norwegian striker was the star of the show, scoring twice and providing the assist for the other goal. The scoring opened just five minutes in, when Phil Foden delivered a cross that Haaland headed on target. Alphonse Arรฉola made the save, but the rebound fell kindly to the striker, who made no mistake to put City up 1โ€“0.

At the 38th minute, Rayan Cherki won the ball back and played it to Haaland, who then laid it off to Tijjani Reijnders arriving in the box to finish for the 2โ€“0.

In the second half, at the 69-minute mark, the Scandinavian forward capitalized on a mix-up between two defenders trying to recover and clear the ball, simply tapping it in to seal the 3โ€“0 win and score his 19th goal of the league campaign.

The โ€˜Citizensโ€™ now sit second in the table with 37 points, two behind leaders Arsenal, while the โ€˜Hammersโ€™ are 18th in the relegation zone with 13 points.

A red card around the half-hour mark completely changed the outlook for Tottenham, who fell 1-2 at home to Liverpool.

An unnecessary foul by Xavi Simons on Virgil van Dijk while pressing was reviewed by VAR and ultimately resulted in a red card, tipping the balance of the match in favor of the visitors.

Even so, the โ€˜Redsโ€™ had to wait until the second half to break through. In the 56th minute, a through ball from Florian Wirtz found Alexander Isak, who finished first-time to make it 0โ€“1. On that play, Micky van de Ven slid in to try to block the shot and ended up colliding with Isak, injuring him. The striker had come on at halftime due to Bradleyโ€™s injury and was forced to leave shortly after scoring.

The second goal came in the 66th minute after a cross from the right by Jeremie Frimpong that deflected off a defender. The ball looped high into the air, and Hugo Ekitikรฉ rose above the defense to place a header perfectly into the top corner for the 0โ€“2. Frimpong had come on for Isak and later also had to leave the match due to injury.

Tottenham pulled one back in the 83rd minute through Richarlison following a corner kick and several rebounds inside the box. Still, it was not enough, especially after they were reduced to nine men following another red card, this one shown to Cristian Romero.

Liverpool now sit fifth in the table with 29 points, while Tottenham are 13th with 22.

Result: Tottenham 1-2 Liverpool
