Liga MX Matchday 1: Tijuana vs. Amรฉrica

Tijuana +281Amรฉrica -116 Draw Offs: +268

Amรฉrica dreamed of starting the tournament with a win and sending a clear message at the beginning of the Clausura MX, but they could not get past a dull scoreless draw in their visit to Tijuana.

It was a match with very few goal-scoring chances. A goal ruled out for Raรบl Zรบรฑiga early on due to offside hinted at a different type of game, but that was not the case. The only clear opportunity came from a shot inside the box by Rodrigo Aguirre, which Antonio Rodrรญguez saved finely.

Ignacio Rivero and Josef Martรญnez made their debuts for the home side, coming on as substitutes, while Rodrigo Dourado was not seen for the โ€˜รguilasโ€™.

Result: Tijuana 0-0 Amรฉrica

Liga MX Matchday 1: Guadalajara vs. Pachuca

Guadalajara -115 Pachuca +304Draw Offs: +244

Guadalajara wants to be contenders again after a long time, and their path could not have started any better after defeating Pachuca 2โ€“0.

The scoring was opened by Armando Gonzรกlez in the 17th minute after Brian Gutiรฉrrez poked the ball through, and the forward only had to tap it in.

In the final play of the first half, it was Daniel Aguirreโ€™s turn, as he broke in alone down the right and lunged to connect with a cross from Efraรญn รlvarez to make it 2โ€“0.

It was a great match for Chivas, who created plenty of chances, especially in the first half, and were deserving winners. They even deserved to win by a larger margin. On the other hand, the โ€˜Tuzosโ€™, who have one of the best attacks in the tournament, need to improve.

Result: Guadalajara 2-0 Pachuca

Liga MX Matchday 1: Monterrey vs. Toluca

Monterrey +102Toluca +241Draw Offs:+250

Defending champions Toluca began the defense of their title and the quest for a third straight championship with a 0โ€“1 away victory over Monterrey.

The only goal of the match came through Helinho in the 56th minute. It was a fine team move between him and Santiago Simรณn, ending with the Brazilian finishing first time, placing the ball into the far post for a superb goal.

In the 88th minute, the home side had a chance to equalize, but goalkeeper Hugo Gonzรกlez, who was heavily criticized during his time with Rayados, saved Sergio Canalesโ€™ penalty.

A great victory for the โ€˜Diablos Rojosโ€™, especially considering they were without Paulinho, Alexis Vega, Jesรบs Gallardo, Marcel Ruiz, Franco Romero, and Sebastiรกn Cรณrdova.

Result: Monterrey 0-1 Toluca

Liga MX Matchday 1: San Luis vs. Tigres

San Luis +298 Tigres -114 Draw Offs:+245

Tigres want to return to the final and challenge for the title, and their path in this Clausura MX began with a 1โ€“2 away victory over Atlรฉtico San Luis.

The goals came in the second half. In the 49th minute, Marcelo Flores received the ball inside the box after a cross from the right, cut outward to beat a couple of defenders, and struck a powerful left-footed shot high that hit the post and went in for the 0โ€“1.

The equalizer arrived in the 74th minute through Italo-Brazilian Joรฃo Pedro Galvรฃo, who headed in from a corner kick, but three minutes later Flores appeared again, after a backheel pass from Andrรฉ-Pierre Gignac, to fire a low, left-footed cross-shot for the final 1โ€“2.

Result: Atletico Luis 1-2 Tigres
