Note to Readers: the situation with Medina Spirit is still up in the air as of May 11 at 4:40pm EST. We’ll be keeping a close on eye on any new developments. A Medina Spirit disqualification will move the odds significantly and (obviously) make the Triple Crown 2021 a non-starter. The Preakness 2021 Champion is Rombauer with Midnight Bourbon placing and Medina Spirit in 3rd place. Watch the entire race below:

Per Bob Baffert’s attorney, an agreement has been reached to allow Medina Spirit and Concert Tour to run in the Preakness Stakes. Will submit to pre-race testing. More to come … pic.twitter.com/ToByD4aepN

Medina Spirit – Preakness Stakes 2021 Odds
With the 2021 Kentucky Derby still impressing the racing world with unexpected results, the horse racing world shifts its focus to the 2021 Preakness where Medina Spirit sets his sights on the Triple Crown.
This Florida-raised 3-year-old colt surprised just about everyone at Churchill Downs in the Kentucky Derby. Breaking all the predictions that gave him 12-1 odds of winning.
Medina Spirit – Doping Controversy
All eyes are on Medina Spirit in the 2021 Preakness Stakes, but not in the way we thought it would be after his impressive Kentucky Derby victory. The colt tested positive for a drug test that was announced on Sunday, putting the search for the Triple Crown in serious jeopardy.
As of Sunday night, the colt had not yet been stripped of the Kentucky Derby crown, but his trainer was drastically sanctioned with a ban on entering any horse in races at Churchill Downs.
This positive test significantly changed the plans regarding the race at the Pimlico racecourse and also forced the draw for the position of the horses to be moved from Monday to Tuesday, so that there was enough time to make a fair decision.
If there is any disqualification from Medina Spirit, Kentucky Derby runner-up Mandaloun would be the new champion, and despite this, this colt is not scheduled to run at the Preakness.
But, if there is no disqualification or they simply let the horse compete in this race, Medina Spirit would undoubtedly be one of the main candidates to win.
Bob Baffert Responds to Doping Controversy
Things got a little bit weird when Bob Baffert, Medina Spirit’s Trainer took to mainstream media to address the Kentuck Racing Commission and Churchill Down’s doping accusations.
Bob Baffert blamed "cancel culture" after his horse, Medina Spirit, who won the Kentucky Derby, failed its post-race drug test.

"We live in a different world now. This America's different." pic.twitter.com/bsQeiV7oXi
In response to Baffert’s baffling Cancel Culture comments, the internet did it’s thing and the Memes started being posted faster than American Pharoh coming out of the gates…
We double checked our sources on this one and yes, The Donald really did call Medina Spirit a junkie.

What Happens if Medina Spirit is Disqualified from the Preakness?
A second positive test — called a “split sample” has to be administered before a horse can be disqualified.
If that second test does come back positive, second-place Derby finisher Mandaloun would be declared the race winner.
Mandaloun isn’t running in the Preakness, so that outcome would mean there will be no Triple Crown champion in 2021.
Another of the horses that can give Medina Spirit the fight is Concert Tour, which has three victories and was third in the last Arkansas Derby in April.
Let’s have a look at the horses that (may) participate in the 2021 edition of the Preakness Stakes
What Happens to Bets if Medina Spirit is Disqualified?
We know a lot of bettors who are worried about their wagers if Medina Spirit is disqualified.
In Horse Racing, once a result is official, the bet is over, and results don’t change.
These after-the-fact technicalities can alter the record books, but they don’t change what happened at the sportsbook or at the race track. You’ll always want to be careful where you bet on horse racing online.
There are some shady offshore books who may try to recall your winnings, even though the changes are slim. If we think about this for a second, Medina Spirit upset almost everyone picks and predictions.
That means bookmakers, sportsbooks and raccebooks all made a significant profit since the majority of bets were placed on the favorites.
Sure a small number of people made money on Medina Spirit but many more gamblers lost, meaning the Kentucky Derby 2021 was a very good race for sports betting operators.
It wouldn’t be in their best interest to cause outrage to roll back a relatively small portion of their losses.
