The Acorn Stakes is an American horse race, also Grade I, which will be held on Saturday, June 5, at the Belmont Park, Elmont, New York. This event features 3-year-old thoroughbred fillies, runs one mile long, and has a prize pool of $300,000. This is the first stop of the Triple Tiara of the United States, with the following races being the Coaching Club American Oaks which has a 1 1/8 mile run, and the Alabama Stakes of 1 ¼ miles. In order for a filly to win the Triple Tiara, they must win all 3 races.

The winning Kentucky Oaks filly will not run in the Acorn Stakes race this Saturday. One of the top trainers, Chad Brown, trains the three-year-old filly Search Result, who has only been defeated in the Kentucky Oaks. Before that, he won at Gulfstream, Busher Invitational, and Grade II Gazelle at Aqueduct. Considering Search Result has not had a very long professional career, the fact that the filly placed second in the Kentucky Oaks says a lot about the fillies’ racing abilities. 

Horses that are considered outsiders to participate in the Kentucky Oaks could have a significant impact on the result in the Acorn Stakes. That is why one of the favorite fillies for this race is Search Result.

Last year’s winner, Gamine, set the Belmont Stakes track speed record in this category as she covered the one-mile distance in 1:32.55. The jockeys, Eddie Caro and Mike Smith are the main competitors to take the victory since they have both managed to take the victory in 5 opportunities.
