The 2025 Italian GP and 16th round of the Formula 1 season returns to its historic home at the Autodromo Nazionale Monza.

McLaren’s Oscar Piastri arrives with a commanding 34-point lead over teammate Lando Norris in the Drivers’ Championship, following his dominant win in the Netherlands. Meanwhile, Ferrari, hosting their home race, will commemorate the 50th anniversary of Niki Lauda’s 1975 championship, unveiling a special red-and-white retro livery and a demonstration lap with a 1995 Ferrari 412 T2.

Monza delivers the Perfect stage for raw speed, emotional spectacle, and championship momentum shifts. McLaren’s dominance is evident, but Leclerc’s home support and Hamilton’s fightback could add layers of intrigue.

Italian GP Circuit Breakdown

The legendary Autodromo Nazionale Monza, often dubbed the “Temple of Speed”, stretches 5.793 km per lap. The race covers 53 laps, totaling approximately 306.7 km.With cars reaching up to 350 km/h and Full-throttle running accounting for around 76% of the lap, Monza demands maximum engine performance and the lightest aero-configurations.Overtaking is primarily concentrated at braking zones into the Variante del Rettifilo and Parabolica, supported by DRS on the long main straight.

Pirelli has selected the C3 (hard), C4 (medium), and C5 (soft) tyres for Monza—same as last year. Each driver receives two hard, three medium, eight soft sets, plus intermediates and wets. An extra soft set is reserved for Q3 qualifiers. Owing to the low downforce setup and long pit-lane time, a one-stop strategy is most likely. However, high track temperatures could pressure teams toward a two-stop.

The weather outlook is favorable with dry and warm conditions expected throughout the weekend. FP1 may see some early light rain, but by Qualifying and race day, skies are forecasted to be clear with temperatures around 27 °C.

Italian GP Betting Picks

Oscar Piastri leads the Formula 1 driver’s championship with seven wins and is the only driver to score in every race this season. His form, especially following last weekend’s dominant “grand slam,” makes him the driver to beat.

Lando Norris, trailing by 34 points, returns looking to halt Piastri’s momentum after a mechanical DNF halted his Dutch GP comeback. A strong result here would reinvigorate his title challenge.

Charles Leclerc is Ferrari’s hope at Monza. A two-time winner at this circuit (2024 and 2019) and a crowd favorite, Leclerc’s experience here makes him a prime candidate to deliver a morale-boosting result for the Scuderia.

Lewis Halminton faces intense pressure. In his debut Monza outing for Ferrari, He carries a five-place grid penalty for ignoring yellow flags, and has yet to score a podium this season in red. Yet Monza’s tifosi atmosphere could serve as inspiration for a turnaround.

Additionally, George Russell stands out as a potential dark-horse for the podium—Mercedes’ consistent performer who impressed in Hungary and has past success at Monza.

Finally, Kimi Antonelli, Italy’s rising star at Mercedes, aims to recover from a rough outing in Zandvoort. Racing in front of his home crowd, he’ll be looking to silence critics with a strong finish.
