The highest category of automotive sports lands on one of the most important circuits within Formula 1, the Circuit de Barcelona – Catalunya to contest the long-awaited GP of Spain. This event will be the first double of the season, after the previous race, where the best drivers in the world drove at the Autodromo Internacional do Algarve, Portugal.

This is the fourth round of the year in the F1 world motorsport championship. This race will be held on May 7, 8, and 9, at the Montmeló Spanish circuit. As usual, on Friday the first free practices will be held, on Saturday the qualifying race or Pole Position will be run, and on Sunday morning (Eastern Time) the Spanish Grand Prix will be run.

For this race, the two best drivers of the season arrive with a very exciting fight. The current champion, Lewis Hamilton, after achieving his second victory of the season in Portimao will face the leader of the general table Max Verstappen. Verstappen is 8 points above Portimao on the general table, in which they are now each other’s ultimate rivals. This race is getting a lot to talk, in which the Red Bull team is generating a lot of impressions stating that very shortly they will be able to dethrone Mercedes. Mercedes has won the last 7 world championships and this year they lead the tournament, but with a short 18-point lead over Red Bull.

The Montmeló circuit is the one used by F1 for pre-season practices. This is mainly because the Circuit de Barcelona – Catalunya is one of the best in terms of layout. However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the practices were not carried out in Barcelona, so this race will be the first time that cars travel in Montmeló.

One of the main novelties of the Montmeló circuit for this season is the remodeling of turn 10. It will be a more rounded curve than the previous one, in which meters have been gained in the loophole, which will be mixed between asphalt and gravel. This will notably improve safety in a critical area since it is considerably long braking after one of the longest straights of the entire circuit.

Below is the general classification table of drivers and teams for this season.
