Last Updated on May 30, 2023 9:31 pm by Erwin Noguera

The two greatest champions in NBA history failed to reach the final of this edition. The Lakers and Celtics even tried to keep the tradition of fighting for another title but succumbed to powerful and prepared opponents to make an unforgettable season.

Celtics and Heat had a series of incredible games: it took 7 games to define the finalists. The Heat emerged victorious with a winning score of 4-3, becoming champion of the Eastern Conference and waiting for the winner of the other bracket to play in the NBA final.

For the Western Conference, there was no balance: the Nuggets ran over the Lakers and won the series 4-0. Scores of 132-126, 108-103, 119-108, and 113-111 demonstrated the superiority of the Nuggets in the match.

Heat and Nuggets will make the finals of the NBA and the first meeting will be on June 1st.

When:

Monday, May 29th

Celtics and Heat had their last confrontation yesterday, May 29, in a game that would decide the advancement of one of the teams to the NBA final. With the series tied at 3-3, whoever won would be the Conference champion and face the Nuggets in the final.

The series of games seemed to end right at the beginning when the Heat won the first three games – one of which was away from home – but that was not what happened in the second game when Boston played at home. The three-pointer, scored by Horford, gave the perfect start to the Celtics, who believed in the reaction at that moment. The Locals’ first win came under Jayson Tatum, who scored 33 points on that occasion.

The Celtics would go on to win the other two games, thwarting the Miami Heat’s plans to capture the conference title early. The scores of 116-99, 110-97, and 104-103 showed great potential for the Celtics to react, although they got tired in the final game: defeated by 103-84.

In what would be the decisive match, Jimmy Butler was again instrumental for the Heat, scoring 28 points and managing the team’s pace in the most tense moments of the game. Jaylen Brown (Celtics) also had a memorable game, contributing 19 points, 8 rebounds, and 5 assists, but his team couldn’t withstand the Heat’s pressure.

Although they started the last game winning by 5-0, the Celtics saw their opponent react, turn the game around, extend the advantage, and play calmly until the end. A game worthy of a grand finale. And the Heat was the winner and will dispute the title with the Nuggets.

When:

Monday, May 22nd

The Nuggets got more rest days after beating the Lakers in the Western Conference final series. Much has been said about the balance between these two teams and the possibility of actually playing the seven games. However, the truth is that Denver was far superior in this confrontation.

The scores do not exactly show this superiority, since the difference was of a few points. However, the posture and determination of Nuggets athletes, whenever the game was undefined, made the difference in the final score.

The Nuggets won the series 4-0 (132-126; 108-103; 119-108; 113-11) and left no doubt about their team’s ability to be NBA champions.

Many private duels took place. Lebron James vs Nikola Jokic; Anthony Davis vs Jamal Murray were some of the main ones. Jokic once again surprised everyone with his presence across the court. He was the main player to get offensive and defensive rebounds, without neglecting his ability to score points and impose difficulties on the opposing team.

The Nuggets leave Lebron James and his strong team behind and go toward the NBA title. Facing the Heat is the last step before that goal.
