Hernán Crespo’s second cycle as coach of São Paulo did not start in the best way. In his return to the helm of the Paulista team, his team lost 2-0 to Flamengo at the Maracana stadium, leaving them dangerously close to the relegation zone in the Brasileirão 2025. Meanwhile, Mengão consolidated its position as the tournament’s sole leader after 12 games, three points ahead of Cruzeiro.
Crespo, who recently replaced Luis Zubeldía after he departed from the club, had already coached the Tricolor in 2021, achieving good results such as the Paulista Championship title and reaching the quarterfinals of both the Copa Libertadores and the Copa do Brasil. The board decided to bet again on the Argentine coach, and his re-debut took place after the break in the league due to the Club World Cup.
Flamengo, meanwhile, returned to action in the local tournament after their elimination in the round of 16 of the Club World Cup against Bayern Munich (4-2). The Rio de Janeiro team was far superior during the 90 minutes, translating that dominance into the scoreboard: Luiz Araújo opened the account with a superb goal in the 60th minute, and Wallace Yan sealed the match near the end.
With this defeat, São Paulo is in 15th place in the table, with only 12 points from 13 matches (two wins, six draws, and five losses). They are only one point away from relegation, a zone currently occupied by Vitória. Furthermore, their position could worsen if Fortaleza or Juventude manage to win their pending matches.
Result: Flamengo 2–0 São Paulo
Brasileirão Matchday 13 Roundup: Bahia vs. Atlético Mineiro

In soccer, as in superhero stories, sometimes not even the strongest can change destiny. Such was Hulk’s night at the Fonte Nova Arena, where Atlético Mineiro lost 1-2 to a solid Bahia in the 13th round of the Brasileirão 2025. The veteran striker left a touch of quality with an impressive Olympic goal, but not even this flash of genius could save his team from a painful defeat.
Bahia had taken the lead thanks to Luciano Juba, and it looked as if the first half would end with that minimal advantage. However, in stoppage time, Hulk took the ball from a corner kick and, with his characteristic power, sent a left-footed shot between goalkeeper Marcos Felipe and the near post. The goal was not only spectacular, but broke a drought of eight matches without scoring and put him in the club’s history: he reached 126 goals with the Gaul’s jersey in 254 games, thus reaching the top 10 of historical scorers, at the level of legends such as Reinaldo and Éder.
But the joy was short-lived. In the 90+7th minute, Michel Araújo surprised the Mineiro defense and scored the winning goal for Bahia, sealing the comeback and leaving the visiting team’s efforts without any reward.
Since he arrived in 2021, Hulk has become an icon for Atlético Mineiro. At 38, the former Porto and Brazil national team player continues to score memorable goals. But the Gaul needs much more than sparks of talent. It needs performance, structure, and solidity if it wants to be a protagonist again in a tournament where teams like Bahia are unforgiving.
Result: Bahia 2–1 Atlético Mineiro
Brasileirão Matchday 13 Roundup: Corinthians vs. Bragantino
Corinthians +112 | Bragantino +279 | Draw Offs:+224 |
In the 13th round of the Brasileirão, RB Bragantino won 2-1 against Corinthians on Sunday.
The first goal of the match came 30 minutes into the first half, when Eduardo Sasha scored from the penalty spot to break the initial tie. At the start of the second half, Cacá equalized with an accurate header in the 52nd minute, but just a few moments later, Thiago Borbas put the visitors ahead again with a goal after an elaborate play.
During the match, both sides generated clear chances that could have changed the score, although shots by Eric Ramires and Rodrigo Garro hit the post.
Thiago Borbas stood out as the most decisive player of the match, scoring one of the goals that sealed his team’s victory. Also key was the performance of goalkeeper Lucão, who had a brilliant night, containing eight shots on goal.
Result: Corinthians 1–2 Bragantino
Brasileirão Matchday 13 Roundup: Cruzeiro vs. Gremio

Kaio Jorge was the star of Cruzeiro’s 4-1 victory over Grêmio in the 13th round of the Brasileirão, scoring three of his team’s four goals.
The striker shone with a hat-trick, scoring in the 24th minute of the first half and then twice more in the 8th and 31st minutes of the second half. Lucas Villalba also added to the scoreline with a goal 34 minutes into the first half. On the visiting team’s side, André Henrique scored 18 minutes into the second half.
One of the highlights of the match came when Kaio Jorge completed his hat-trick. Lucas Romero sent in a cross from the wing, and the striker, with precision, scored from the edge of the area to seal his third goal.
Kaio Jorge’s performance was decisive. He not only scored three goals but also generated constant danger with five shots on goal, making him the undisputed star of the match.
Another outstanding player was Matheus Pereira. The Cruzeiro midfielder had a solid performance, actively participating in the offense with two effective assists and four shots on goal.
