We continue with the CONMEBOL World Cup Qualifiers, and Uruguay will be looking to end their losing streak against a Venezuela side dreaming of reaching their first World Cup.

Uruguay is coming off a 2-0 loss to Paraguay, and its direct spot in the World Cup is starting to be at risk.

On the other hand, Venezuela took a big step forward by defeating Bolivia 2-0, gaining an advantage in the playoff race, though they still have a chance to qualify directly.

Why Bet on Uruguay?

Uruguay is not at its best. They are coming off a 2-0 loss to Paraguay. Since the Copa América, they’ve only managed one win (a 3-2 victory over Colombia with a goal from Manuel Ugarte in the 90+11 minute), five draws (plus another in a friendly against Guatemala), and three losses.

Their last win came on November 15, 2024, and they are now on a four-game winless streak, earning just two of the previous 12 points. With 21 points, they currently sit in fifth place. A win would secure them a direct spot in the World Cup, but a loss would put them in danger, as seventh-place Venezuela is just three points behind.

Uruguay’s biggest issue has been their attack. They’ve gone three straight matches without scoring a goal, and they are currently without Darwin Núñez due to suspension. Rodrigo Aguirre started as the striker against Paraguay and will likely start again. It’s worth noting that Giorgian De Arrascaeta is the top scorer in the Brasileirão, with nine goals for Flamengo, although he has neither scored nor assisted in these qualifiers.

In addition to Núñez, Uruguay is also missing two other key players due to injuries: Federico Valverde and Sergio Rochet. Santiago Mele started in goal against Paraguay and was partly responsible for the first goal conceded.

Why Bet on Venezuela?

Venezuela is full of hope but knows it won’t be easy. They’re coming off a 2-0 win over Bolivia, their direct rival, and are holding on to seventh place, which grants a World Cup 2026 playoff spot. They have 18 points, four more than the eighth-place team, so no matter what happens this Tuesday, they won’t fall out of World Cup qualification zones.

They’ve won two consecutive matches against Peru and Bolivia—something they hadn’t achieved in World Cup qualifiers since the 2006 Germany cycle. Back then, they even managed a third straight win, which was a historic 0-3 victory over Uruguay in Montevideo.

The ‘Vinotinto’ holds a four-point lead over eighth place and is just three points behind the fifth and sixth positions. However, their remaining schedule is tough: away matches against Uruguay and Argentina and a home game versus Colombia.

Salomón Rondón remains the country’s biggest star at 35 years old. He scored one of the goals against Bolivia and now has five goals in these qualifiers—just one behind top scorers Lionel Messi and Luis Díaz.

Venezuela has only earned two out of a possible 21 points as visitors in these qualifiers, drawing 1-1 with Brazil and Peru.

Final Betting Analysis: Uruguay vs. Venezuela

While this may not be Uruguay’s best moment, and Venezuela comes in motivated, we believe the ‘Celeste’ will defend their home turf and secure the victory they need to clinch a spot in the 2026 World Cup.

The numbers at Gambyl Exchange favor Uruguay, with a Moneyline of -192, while Venezuela sits at +725 and a draw at +309.

The last time these two teams faced off was on September 10, 2024, and it ended in a 0-0 draw. Their most recent encounter in Uruguay saw the hosts win 4-1. Recent meetings in Montevideo have been fairly even, with two wins for the ‘Charrúas,’ two draws, and one victory for Venezuela.

Go for a straight win for Uruguay in the Moneyline. If you bet $100 at -192, you will gain $52 for a total payout of $152.
