The Matchday 5 of the Brasileirão left Athletico-PR as leaders but equal on points with Bahia, which had a remarkable away victory over Botafogo. 

In another of the weekend’simportant matches, Bragantino was unable to overcome Flamengo, while Palmeiras recovered against Cuiaba. On the other hand, Fluminense played a great game against Atlético Mineiro, but both teams could only get a point. 

This date was marked by heavy rains in several areas of Brazil, especially in the state of Rio Grande do Sul, which had many floods and caused the postponement of games.

One of the best matches of the weekend took place at the Kleber José de Andrade stadium, where Fluminense and Atlético Mineiro drew 2-2. 

The score was opened in the 4th minute by Germán Cano when he left-footed in a cross from Marquinhos. Then, in the 61st minute, Alexsander recovered in the opponent’s half for Renato Augusto to celebrate his first goal for Flu. However, Chile’s Eduardo Vargas appeared at his best to score with a cross-shot (73′) and equalized at 79′ with a header. 

Mineiro reached nine points in the Brasileirão, while the Flu is at the bottom with only 5 points.

Bragantino missed a great opportunity to make an impact at home and drew 1-1 with Flamengo, one of the most important teams in Brazil and South America. 

Pedro Henrique headed in Gustavo Neves’ corner kick at the far post to score the first goal of the match at 30.’But the Fla got the parity at 79′ when Nicolás De la Cruz found Bruno Henrique with a filtered pass, who defined with a right-footed shot to certify the result. 

With this point, Bragantino reached nine but missed the opportunity to be the sole leader. The Mengão remained seventh with eight points.

Botafogo’sgreat recovery in the league and the Copa Libertadores suffered a setback after the Fogao lost 2-1 at home to Bahia. 

Everaldo gave the visitors the lead from the penalty spot at 45+3′, but Jeffinho equalized at 63′ when he controlled a shot from Marlon Freitas and shot to the far post. But at the end, when the clock reached 86′, Rafael Ratao received an exquisite pass filtered by Carlos de Pena, eluded the goalkeeper, and scored the goal. 

With this result, Bahia is second with ten points, the same as the leader Athletico-PR, while Botafogo remains with nine points.

Palmeiras has not had a start to the campaign worthy of a reigning champion. However, on the last matchday, they were able to beat Cuiabá 2-0 as visitors. 

The score for the Verdão opened at 45+1′ when Lazaro headed in a cross from Luis Guilherme. Then, at 71′, it was the turn of the young Estevao, who generated a penalty and took it to make the score concrete. 

Thanks to these three points, Palmeiras reached eight and is sixth, while Cuiabá is last with no points.
