Last Updated on March 22, 2024 3:47 pm by Erwin Noguera

The Concacaf Nations League reaches its final match to define the champion: the USA and Mexico will play another decisive derby in a tournament of this confederation.

To reach the final, the USMNT needed extra time to beat Jamaica 3-1, with two goals by Haji Wright and an own goal from Cory Burke in the last play of regular time.

The Tri took advantage of Panama and defeated them with no problem by 3-0. Edson Álvarez, Julián Quiñones, and Orbelin Pineda scored.

Why Bet on Mexico?

Mexico is by history the greatest Concacaf team and is the current Gold Cup champion. However, it has never been champion of the Nations League, so it wants to get rid of the thorn in its side.

The Mexican team defeated Panama 3-0 with goals by Julián Quiñones, Edson Álvarez, and Orbelín Pineda. It was a resounding match for Jaime Lozano’s team.  This result was very different from what happened in the quarterfinals, where they lost 2-0 in the first leg and won the second leg 3-0. The current situation of this team is somewhat irregular.

Recently, they have won two games, lost two, and drawn one, but a win against the United States could mark a turning point to get back on track, as when they won the Gold Cup last year.

In addition, the Tri wants to end the U.S. paternity, as they have six games without beating them.  In this tournament, they were eliminated by the USA in the semifinals of last year’s edition (3-0) and the final of the previous one (3-2) with a penalty kick missed by Andrés Guardado in the 120th minute.

Defender Julián Araujo will be out of the squad, while Julián Quiñones and Johan Vásquez are doubtful.

Why Bet on the United States?

In recent years, the United States has become the most powerful team in CONCACAF and, as proof of this, is the two-time champion of the Nations League.

To reach this final, the USMNT had to suffer, as it required extra time to overcome Jamaica 3-1. In addition, they advanced to the final 30 minutes with an own goal at the 90+6 minute, so they were only a few seconds away from elimination. The big star came from the bench, Haji Wright, who scored twice.

The United States did not have to play in the group stage and went straight to the quarterfinals, where they beat Trinidad & Tobago 4-2 in the series.

By name, there is no doubt that the great figure of the team is Christian Pulisic, who stands out in AC Milan and is one of the most experienced of the current squad. But special attention should be paid to Giovanni Reyna, who has not played much in the Premier League but who, in the match against Jamaica, came on in the second half and provided two assists. Likewise, several players are in the top European leagues and stand out, such as Folarin Balogun (Monaco), Weston McKennie (Juventus), and Yunus Musah (Milan).

Josh Sargent is the big casualty of this set due to an injured ankle. Another aspect to follow is what coach Gregg Berhalter will do after the argument and even a push with midfielder Tyler Adams.

Final Betting Analysis: Mexico vs. USA

The last official duel between these two countries took place in 2023, in the semifinals of this tournament, and the victory was 3-0 for the United States, with a brace from Christian Pulisic.  The winger has become a terror for the Aztecs every time he faces them and has already scored four goals in the classic.

The numbers at Gambyl Exchange have the United States as the favorite. The Moneyline for them shows 2.13, while Mexico has 3.585, and the draw is at 3.3.

CONCACAF will stop for 90 minutes to watch the great derby of this region once again. Despite what both teams showed in the semifinals, the victory will end up going to the United States, which at home will be the three-time champion of the competition. We’ll go for a 3-2.

Go for a win in the United States’ Moneyline. If you bet $100 at 2.13, you will gain $113 for a total payout of $213.
