Clausura MX 2024 Matchday 13 Roundup

Monterrey vs. Chivas

The matchday 13 of the Clausura MX 2024 was a big surprise. Monterrey lost its unbeaten run of the semester to Chivas, who gave their coach, the Argentine Fernando Gago, a break.

But this blow to Rayados not only meant the first defeat of the season but also gave Club América the lead in the Clausura after beating Atlético San Luis at home.

For their part, Toluca beat Pachuca, who continue to show signs of inconsistency despite having a voracious offense. Pumas and Cruz Azul are disappointed with a 0-0 draw.

Jorge Rodríguez was red-carded at 82′ for the home side, and 11 minutes later, at 90+3′, Ricardo Marín scored the second and sealed the match after dribbling past the goalkeeper and shooting into an empty net.

Monterrey dropped to second place with 28 points (+13), while Chivas reached 19 points and gave their coach, Fernando Gago, some breathing space.

In a great game in terms of the number of goals scored, Toluca came out on top at Pachuca’s home ground to win 2-3.

Although Miguel Rodríguez gave the home side the lead after 3 minutes, the Diablos equalized at 13′ with a first-time right-footed finish by Brian García off a pass from Carlos Orrantia. Goalkeeper Tiago Volpi scored the second from a penalty kick (34′), and the third was scored by Alexis Vega when he took advantage of a poor clearance by the defense (44′). In one of the most anticipated matches, Pumas drew 0-0 at home with Cruz Azul, a result that was of no use to either club.

Although they are two teams with a good offensive capacity, they were unable to open the score at any time. It was a game without many scoring opportunities, as evidenced by the fact that each team had only one shot on goal during the 90 minutes.

The Máquina Cementera ended a streak of two consecutive defeats and now has 23 points, while the Felinos have gone five games without a win and have 17 units.
