After a fun weekend, we take a look at how things wrapped up after matchday 9 in the regular season of the MLS. 

Both LA Galaxy and Inter Miami managed to keep themselves as leaders in both conferences, but the fight right behind them was remarkable, as neither team has made enough of a gap at the front to feel safe.

Meanwhile, multiple teams tried to get closer to the top, and some big results came our way. Now, we are getting ready to start breaking down an interesting matchday in the MLS.

MLS Matchday 9 Roundup: Inter Miami 3 – 1 Nashville

When and Where?

Saturday, April 20, 7:30 pm ET at the DRV PNK Stadium

Even though Nashville surprised their opponents with a goal in the second minute of the match, Inter Miami came firing on all cylinders now that Leonel Messi is back and ready to do his part for the team, as the star managed to get things even with a goal on the 11th minute.

Sergio Busquets gave Inter Miami a lead in the 39th minute, and they simply kept the lead for the rest of the match.

It was Leo Messi who put the final nail in the coffin by scoring a penalty in the 81st minute, sealing the deal and getting three points at home.

MLS Matchday 9: Atlanta United 1 – 2 Cincinnati

The first half of the game was quite uneventful, but once Atlanta United hit the first goal in the 59th minute, then all the action took place in the following minutes.

It took three minutes for Cincinnati to hit back at Atlanta, with a goal from Luca Orellano in the 62nd, followed by a quick second from Luciano Acosta in the 64th minute.

After those two goals, the match continued its track until Cincinnati was able to celebrate their victory.

Saturday, April 20, 10:30 pm ET at the BMO Stadium

LAFC was in a pickle after the NY Red Bulls took an early lead due to Eddie Segura scoring an own goal and putting his team in trouble.

However, they took quite a long to rally back, as Denis Buoanga scored his first in the 67th minute via penalty, and they had a brief moment of peace of mind before Red Bull’s Emil Forsberg scored another one in the 81st minute.

It seemed like things were going to end this way until Denis Buoanga managed to score a second one in the 5th minute of added time, which allowed them to share points not too long after.

LA Galaxy and San Jose Earthquakes gave us quite a big match for all fans, as they scored seven goals.

Galaxy’s Gabriel Pec scored early in the 14th minute, followed by Joseph Paintsil scoring a penalty shot in the 24th. Later, Maya Yoshida scored his own in the 30th minute to give LA Galaxy a 3 – 0 lead in the first half.

San Jose Earthquakes did not go to the break empty-handed, as Rodrigues managed to score on the 32nd, but things looked gloomy already.

Things got even worse when Riqui Puig scored the 4th for the LA Galaxy in the 56th minute. However, San Jose rallied back and had Benji Kikanovic scoring in the 58th and Jeremy Ebobisse nailing a penalty shot in the 72nd to give us a 4-3 score in a match full of action.
