The Leagues Cup was created with the intention of directly pitting the best clubs in MLS and Liga MX against each other, a scenario designed to balance the forces between the two leagues. However, over the course of the tournament, a clear trend has emerged: US dominance has been consolidated.
In the 2025 edition, that superiority was once again evident, as no Mexican soccer representative managed to reach the semifinals, repeating the script from the previous year.
The quarterfinals confirmed the hegemony of the MLS. Toluca, the reigning Mexican soccer champion, was eliminated in a dramatic penalty shootout against Orlando City. Meanwhile, Tigres, which had รngel Correa on its roster, was unable to stop Inter Miami and fell 2-1. Both results reflected the ability of US teams to prevail in decisive moments, even against renowned opponents with international experience.
Below, we bring you a preview of the Leagues Cup 2025 semifinal matches, with their respective betting odds and our free predictions.

Inter Miami made a statement by eliminating Tigres UANL in the quarterfinals of the 2025 Leagues Cup with a 2-1 victory, in which Luis Suรกrez was the hero, converting two penalties. The Florida team maintains its winning streak in the tournament despite the absence of Lionel Messi, as it did in previous rounds against Necaxa and Pumas, consolidating confidence in a squad that has been able to respond without its star player.
Along the way, the performances of Suรกrez, Rodrigo De Paul, and young Telasco Segovia have been decisive in maintaining the competitive level of the Garzas. Although Miami’s goal is to lift the trophy it won in 2023 again, the semifinal will not be easy: it will face Orlando City, a rival that clearly beat it in the MLS a few weeks ago with a resounding 4-1 victory.
Orlando comes into the match motivated after eliminating Mexican champions Toluca in a penalty shootout where Pedro Gallese shone, saving two shots and scoring the decisive one. With stars such as Martรญn Ojeda, Luis Muriel, and Marco Paลกaliฤ, as well as the contribution of youth player Alex Freeman, the Lions are looking to repeat their dominance from the regular season against Miami (7-1 on aggregate) and continue their quest for another international title.
For this match, our prediction is a victory for Inter Miami.

LA Galaxy has found the 2025 Leagues Cup to be the ideal stage to showcase its best soccer, leaving behind the doubts and terrible level of play shown in the MLS. On their way to the semifinals, the Los Angeles team eliminated three Liga MX clubs, with notable victories such as 5-2 over Tijuana and 4-0 against Santos Laguna.Players such as Joseph Paintsil, Gabriel Pec, and young Matheus Nascimento were protagonists in those blowouts, adding goals and assists that ignited the fans’ enthusiasm.
In the quarterfinals, Marco Reus’ experience came to the fore, as he was involved in both goals in the 2-1 win over Pachuca, guiding the Galaxy to a highly anticipated clash with the Seattle Sounders. As the reigning MLS Cup champions, the Los Angeles club also enjoys the advantage of playing all its Leagues Cup matches at home until the grand final on August 31.
For their part, the Sounders arrive as one of the strongest teams in the competition, after a perfect group stage with three wins, including a historic 7-0 victory over Cruz Azul.
Although they shone in attack with 11 goals in that stage, in the quarterfinals, they needed the figure of goalkeeper Andrew Thomas, who was decisive in the penalty shootout against Puebla. Now they will face a Galaxy team they already defeated 4-0 in the MLS just two weeks ago, adding more tension and expectations to the clash for a ticket to the final.
For this match, our prediction is a victory for the Seattle Sounders.
LA Galaxy vs. Seattle Sounders Betting Pick: Seattle Sounders
