The Apertura MX 2025 Tournament is underway, and one of the title contenders, América, will show its hand as it visits Juárez during the first weekend.
Juárez had a poor end to last season, ultimately losing at home on penalties to Pumas in the play-in round.
On the other hand, América came very close to making history, but ended up living a nightmare after losing in the final.

Why Bet on Juárez?
At one point last tournament, Juárez was performing well, fighting for the top spots in the standings. But a poor final stretch dropped them to ninth place, forcing them into the Play-In.
There, despite playing at home, they drew with Pumas and then lost in the penalty shootout, converting just one of their five attempts.
Including that match against the Felinos, Bravos are now on a five-game winless streak (with four draws) and have only one win in their last nine encounters. They scored just 16 goals, the third-worst tally in the league—only Puebla (12) and Santos (15) scored fewer. However, their 21 goals conceded made them one of the strongest defenses—better even than Toluca, the champions.
For this tournament, their confirmed signings include 26-year-old Portuguese midfielder Ricardinho, from Santa Clara in Portugal; and Mexicans Guillermo Ruiz (a 21-year-old goalkeeper trained in Real Madrid’s youth system who has yet to play a professional match), Rodolfo Pizarro, Alejandro Mayorga, and Diego Ochoa.
The main departure for Uruguayan coach Martín Varini’s squad is 38-year-old Colombian striker Avilés Hurtado.
Why Bet on América?
América wanted to make history with a fourth consecutive title, but Toluca got in their way and beat them 2-0 in the final, ending the streak. But that wasn’t all.
Just a few days later, they had the chance to bounce back, but surprisingly fell to Los Angeles FC (2-1) in the Club World Cup playoff. In just one week, they lost the title and missed out on the Club World Cup.
It was a tough blow for the América fans, who went from euphoria to disappointment. But now, with the start of the Apertura MX 2025, they have a new chance to dream again.
Led by André Jardine, their new signings include Alexis Gutiérrez (Cruz Azul) and Isaías Violante (Toluca), who come in to replace Javairo Dilrosun (Los Angeles FC) and Diego Valdés (Vélez Sarsfield). The Brazilian coach managed to keep the core of the team together, which is important, as this is a strong squad that has proven itself over the past two years.
Final Betting Analysis: Juárez vs. Club América
Last year, Juárez surprised many by qualifying for the Liga MX Play-In, though that was largely thanks to a strong start. We don’t see the Bravos as a strong team—quite the opposite of América, who are contenders once again and still carry the sting of how last season ended. The ‘Águilas’ will take all three points.
The odds at Gambyl Exchange favor América, with a Moneyline of -119, while Juárez sits at +326, and a draw is priced at +254.
The last time they faced off was February 1st of this year, and América won 4-0 with a brace from Brian Rodríguez. Meanwhile, the last time they played in Juárez, the Águilas came away with a 2-1 win. The team from Mexico City has three straight wins and eight victories in their last nine meetings.
Go for a win for América. If you bet $100 at -119, you will gain $84 for a total payout of $184.
