Why Bet on Pachuca?
A new era is coming for Pachuca. The ‘Tuzos’ were eliminated in the quarterfinals of the last tournament by América and are one of the clubs with the most changes heading into the Apertura 2025.
The team is now coached by Jaime Lozano, who hadn’t managed since mid-last year when he was in charge of the Mexican National Team. They have several departures, but without a doubt, the most significant is Salomón Rondón. The 35-year-old Venezuelan striker scored 10 goals and provided three assists in the last tournament and has moved to Real Oviedo in Spain, a club that belongs to the same Pachuca Group and has just been promoted to the first division. Another notable exit was Bryan González, who was transferred to Chivas.
However, as many players left, several new faces arrived. Venezuelan striker Jhonder Cádiz comes from Club León to replace his fellow countryman, while Brazilian winger Kenedy joins from Valladolid. Montenegrin forward Srdan Krstovic is a gamble for the team, and they’ve also brought in Argentinians Agustín Palavecino and Gastón Togni, Spaniard Jaime Seoane, and Mexicans Víctor Guzmán and Brian García.
Pachuca recently participated in the Club World Cup, but had a poor performance, losing all three of their matches: 2-1 to RB Salzburg, 3-1 to Real Madrid, and 2-0 to Al-Hilal. Some of the new faces of the team have already played in this tournament.
Why Bet on Monterrey?
Monterrey had a similar experience to their upcoming rivals, as they also reached the quarterfinals of the last tournament, where they were eliminated by eventual champions Toluca after a 4-4 draw, losing due to Toluca’s higher position in the overall standings.
The main change for the team is on the bench. Spanish coach Domènec Torrent has taken over, replacing Argentine Martín Demichelis. Additionally, Colombian midfielder Johan Rojas returns from his loan at Necaxa, Luis Sánchez is back from Mazatlán, and Arturo González returns from Pachuca. The only official new signing is Uruguay’s national team goalkeeper Santiago Mele. However, reports in the media suggest that the coach did not request Mele and may not count on him.
The only notable departure from the regular squad is Roberto de la Rosa, who was a backup for Germán Berterame. Key players like Sergio Ramos, Nelson Deossa, Jesús Corona, and Sergio Canales remain, although there have been rumors that the Spanish midfielder could be on his way out.
Rayados also recently competed in the Club World Cup, where they left a strong impression. They drew 1-1 with Inter and 0-0 with River Plate, and defeated Urawa Reds 4-0, knocking the Argentine side out of the group stage. In the round of 16, they lost 2-1 to Borussia Dortmund but came close to equalizing.
Final Betting Analysis: Pachuca vs. Monterrey
Great match to kick off the Liga MX, featuring two title contenders. However, based on what we saw in the Club World Cup and the fact that they’ve kept all their stars, we believe Monterrey will take all three points.
The odds at Gambyl Exchange favor Pachuca, with a Moneyline of +120, while Monterrey sits at +212, and a draw is priced at +250.
The last time these two teams faced off was on April 27 of last year, in the Play-In, where Pachuca won 2-1 on the road with two goals in the final 10 minutes. The last three matches between them have all ended in away wins, and there hasn’t been a draw in their previous eight encounters. Additionally, the ‘Tuzos’ have won their last two games against Monterrey.
Go for a win for Monterrey. If you bet $100 at +212, you will gain $212 for a total payout of $312.
