Game 5 of the 76ers vs Wizards playoff series will take place Wednesday, June 2, at the Wells Fargo Center in the city of Philadelphia. The 76ers currently have a 3-1 lead in the series against the Wizards, and they hope to take the victory in Game 5 to give them a spot in the semi-finals.  

How Did the 76ers and Wizards Get Here?

The excellent combination in attack shown by Bradley Beal and point guard Russell Westbrook, coupled with the low offense of the 76ers after the injury of Joel Embiid, allowed the Wizards to extend the series to Game 5 after winning Game 4 with a score of 122-114.

The 76ers, despite coming off strong, did not perform well after their star player Joel Embiid was injured in the first period. The team fought hard throughout the entire game, but Tobias Harris did not have the needed support from Embiid to take the victory. There was a slump both offensively and defensively, which the 76ers could not overcome. If the extent of Embiid’s injury causes him to be absent in additional games, the 76ers will be in for a tough fight for the rest of the series. 

On the other hand, the Wizards had a collective strength that they had not shown in previous games. Players such as Russell Westbrook (19 points, 21 rebounds, and 14 assists), Bradley Beal (27 points and 4 assists), Rui Hachimura (20 points and 13 rebounds), and Robin Lopez (16 points and 5 rebounds) took the victory for the Wizards.

How do 76ers and Wizards arrive?

Game 2 of the series between the Wizards and 76ers was undoubtedly a comfortable game for them, who now have complete control of the series with a 2-0 lead. This last game ended with a score of 120-95, which demonstrates the absolute supremacy of the Sixers in this postseason series.

After ranking 8th in their conference, the Wizards reached the postseason and came in with higher expectations than they have shown thus far. After a hard-fought first game of the series, the Wizards had the opportunity to tie the series and win 1 or 2 games at home to bring them closer to their next goal, which is to qualify for the next round of the Playoffs. Their star player, the all-time All-Star Russel Westbrook, was annulled entirely in the game by one of the leading contenders for the NBA’s Defender of the Year award, Ben Simmons.

Westbrook only scored 10 points, with 2 shots made in 10 field attempts, 11 assists, and 6 rebounds. This undesirable performance by Westbrook was coupled with injury and an altercation he had with a fan, who was just thrown off the court.

While the Sixers are more grown and confident than ever, their star Joel Embiid did not have the usual prominence but still managed to add 22 points, 7 rebounds and 3 assists in 26 minutes played. The 76ers coach manages Embiid’s playing time for the possible second round of the Playoff since, if they qualify, they will play with the Nets, which would be an interesting series; what better way to have your star rested for these games complicated.

Another of the Sixers stars appeared, shutting up those who criticized him for not performing in postseason games; Ben Simmons was down with 22 points, 9 rebounds, and 8 assists.
