Week 15 of the NFL has come to an end, and it delivered the first two teams to clinch a playoff berth, along with several surprises.

The Denver Broncos defeated the Green Bay Packers 34โ€“26, while the Los Angeles Rams did the same against the Detroit Lions with a 41โ€“34 victory. As a result, they became the first two teams to secure a spot in the postseason, meaning each conference now has one fewer available berth.

Among the biggest surprises was the Kansas City Chiefsโ€™ home loss to the Los Angeles Chargers, which officially eliminated them from playoff contention. It marks the first time in more than 10 years that the Chiefs have missed the postseason, and the first time in Patrick Mahomesโ€™ career.

Additionally, several divisions are now extremely tight, with some even tied at the top with identical records, such as the NFC South and the NFC West. All signs point to a thrilling finish to the regular season.

NFL Week 15 Roundup: Kansas City Chiefs vs. Los Angeles Chargers

The Los Angeles Chargers (10โ€“4) delivered the final blow to the Kansas City Chiefs (6โ€“8) by defeating them 13โ€“16, extinguishing any slim hope they had of reaching the postseason.

Patrick Mahomes could not prevent the Chiefsโ€™ collapse. Kansas City had qualified for every postseason since 2015, winning the division title each time. Additionally, since making his debut in 2017, Mahomes has always reached the playoffs, so this marks the first time he will head into the offseason early. As if that were not enough, more bad news followed for him and Andy Reid, as Mahomes suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament, which will lead to a long and difficult recovery process.

On the field, Justin Herbert outperformed Mahomes. The Chargers quarterback completed 19 of 29 passes for 210 yards, with one passing touchdown and one interception, while the Chiefs quarterback went 16 of 28 for 189 yards, with no passing touchdowns, one interception, and a rushing touchdown.

Mahomesโ€™ rushing score in the first quarter and KeAndre Lambert-Smithโ€™s reception in the third were the only touchdowns of the game. All other points came via field goals. Derwin James Jr. intercepted Gardner Minshew with 14 seconds remaining, sealing the victory.

With the win, the Chargers now sit second in the AFC West, two games behind the Denver Broncos, and fifth in the overall AFC standings, two games ahead of the Indianapolis Colts.

Result: Kansas City Chiefs 13-16 Los Angeles Chargers

NFL Week 15 Roundup: New England Patriots 31-35 Buffalo Bills

In a thrilling matchup, the Buffalo Bills (10โ€“4) earned a 35โ€“31 road victory over the New England Patriots (11โ€“3), snapping New Englandโ€™s 10-game winning streak and tightening the AFC East race, with the two teams now separated by just one game.

It was an intriguing contest in which the Patriots dominated the first half, only for the Bills to take control after the break. The home team jumped out to a 21โ€“0 lead and went into halftime ahead 24โ€“7. However, all the scoring in the third quarter belonged to Buffalo, followed by the opening touchdown of the fourth quarter, allowing the visitors to flip the score to 24โ€“28.

TreVeyon Henderson put New England back in front, but James Cook capped off a big night with another touchdown with 6:48 remaining, which proved to be the game-winner.

Josh Allen completed 19 of 28 passes for 193 yards, threw three touchdown passes, and did not record an interception. Two of his touchdown throws went to tight end Dawson Knox, while the other was caught by James Cook. The running back also added two rushing touchdowns, making it his most productive outing since September 12, 2024.

For the Patriots, the offense leaned heavily on the ground game. Drake Maye finished 14 of 23 for 155 yards, with one interception and no passing touchdowns. However, the quarterback scored twice on the ground, while the other two touchdowns came from Henderson. The Ohio State rookie stood out with touchdown runs of 52 and 65 yards, bringing his season total to six rushing scores, plus one receiving touchdown.

It was a matchup featuring the two quarterbacks with the highest completion percentages in the league, with Maye leading at 70.9% and Allen close behind at 70%.

James Cookโ€™s numbers were also noteworthy: 22 rushing attempts (271 on the season) for 107 yards (1,415 total), ranking him second in the NFL in both categories, trailing only Jonathan Taylor (272 carries and 1,443 yards).

Despite the loss, the Patriots remain atop the AFC East at 11โ€“3, while the Bills sit second at 10โ€“4 and sixth overall in the conference standings, with both teams currently holding playoff spots.

Result: New England Patriots 31-35 Buffalo Bills

NFL Week 15 Roundup: Cincinnati Bengals vs. Baltimore Ravens

It was a terrible night for the Cincinnati Bengals, who still had a very slim chance of fighting for a playoff spot until the final week. However, they were humiliated at home after being shut out by the Baltimore Ravens in a 0โ€“24 loss.

Joe Burrow completed 23 of 39 passes for 225 yards and was intercepted twice, while Lamar Jackson needed just eight completions on 12 attempts to throw for 150 yards and two touchdowns, leading his team to victory.

Zay Flowers and Rasheen Ali scored the passing touchdowns. Kyle Van Noy recorded an interception in the fourth quarter and lateraled the ball to Alohi Gilman, who returned it 84 yards for a touchdown. For Ali, a second-year running back, it was the first touchdown of his career, while for Gilman, it was also his first in six NFL seasons.

Despite the win, Jackson is still far from his best form, and Baltimore will need him at a higher level if they hope to compete for a postseason spot. The interception is not being held against him, as it came off a reception error by Flowers, who bobbled the ball, but Jackson has struggled on the ground and could still offer more through the air.

The Ravens are now second in the AFC North with a 7โ€“7 record, one game behind the Pittsburgh Steelers, and ninth in the AFC, two games behind the Houston Texans. The Bengals sit third in the division at 4โ€“10.

Result: Cincinnati Bengals 0-24 Baltimore Ravens

NFL Week 15 Roundup: Denver Broncos vs. Green Bay Packers

The Denver Broncos earned a hugely valuable 34โ€“26 victory over the Green Bay Packers, a win that secured their place in the postseason, while their opponentโ€™s situation becomes more complicatedโ€”though not solely because of the result.

A great performance by Bo Nix led Denver to both the win and a playoff berth. The second-year quarterback completed 23 of 34 passes for 302 yards and four touchdown passes, without being intercepted or sacked. It was the second time this season and the fourth of his career that he threw four touchdown passes in a game.

Courtland Sutton, Troy Franklin, Lilโ€™Jordan Humphrey, and Michael Bandy caught Denverโ€™s passing touchdowns, while RJ Harvey added another score on the ground, giving the rookie 10 total touchdowns this season, combining rushing and receiving.

For the Packers, Jordan Love completed 24 of 40 passes for 276 yards, was intercepted twice, took three sacks, and threw one touchdown pass to Josh Jacobs. The running back also added a rushing touchdown on a 40-yard run, his longest of the season.

Green Bay not only lost the game, but also two of its stars: Micah Parsons and Christian Watson. The linebacker suffered a torn ACL in his left knee and will be sidelined for at least nine months, while the wide receiver took a hard hit to his left shoulder that forced him out of the game, although it does not appear to be serious, and he is expected to be available next weekend. Both players exited in the third quarter, when the team was still leading.

With the win, the Broncos now lead both the AFC and their division with a 12โ€“2 record, two games ahead of the Chargers. Meanwhile, the Packers sit second in the NFC North and seventh in the conference at 9โ€“4โ€“1, trailing the Chicago Bears (10โ€“4), who will be their next opponent.

Result: Denver Broncos 34-26 Green Bay Packers
