Week 6 of the 2025/26 NFL season brought a new dose of drama, intensity, and games that were decided at the last minute. With a third of the season already behind us, teams are beginning to show their true colors: some are consolidating their status as contenders, while others are struggling to get back on track before the pressure of the standings becomes unbearable.

The week ended with a doubleheader on Monday Night Football, where the Buffalo Bills took on the Atlanta Falcons and the Washington Commanders did the same against the Chicago Bears. These matchups not only provided entertainment but also clear signs of how the forces are shaping up in both conferences. Inconsistency and surprises have become a constant this season, keeping fans on edge and coaches looking for immediate adjustments.

As the weeks go by, the typical excuses for the start of the season are beginning to run out. The competition is becoming more demanding, and the pressure to rack up wins before the November 4 trade deadline is increasing. Teams will have to make important decisions: reinforce their roster for a run at the playoffs or accept that it’s time to rethink the project.

NFL Week 6 Roundup: Giants vs. Eagles

On a night of surprises at MetLife Stadium, the New York Giants dominated the Philadelphia Eagles 34-17, handing them their second consecutive defeat of the season. With young quarterback Jaxson Dart at the helm, New York showed a more solid and explosive side, dominating both in the air and on the ground against an opponent that failed to respond. The Eagles, the reigning champions, came in with the intention of putting their stumble against Denver behind them, but they were met with an inspired performance from rookies Dart and Cam Skattebo.

Dart had an outstanding third start, throwing for 195 yards and a touchdown, in addition to adding 58 yards and a rushing touchdown that opened the scoring for the Giants. For his part, Skattebo was unstoppable, racking up 98 yards and three touchdowns, becoming New York’s offensive engine. With this result, the Giants earned their second win of the season, although they remain at the bottom of their division with a 2-4 record.

On the Philadelphia side, Jalen Hurts finished with 283 passing yards, one touchdown pass, and another on the ground, but his efforts were not enough. The Eagles took a 17-13 lead before being overwhelmed by three consecutive touchdowns from the Giants.

Result: Giants 34–17 Eagles

NFL Week 6 Roundup: Colts vs. Cardinals

In a heart-stopping finish at Lucas Oil Stadium, the Indianapolis Colts defeated the Arizona Cardinals 31-27, consolidating their strong start to the season. Daniel Jones was key, throwing two touchdown passes and running for another, while Jonathan Taylor sealed the victory with a rushing touchdown with just over four minutes remaining. The combination of offensive effectiveness and composure at the decisive moment kept the Colts undefeated at home.

Jones completed 22 of 30 passes for 212 yards, although he was intercepted once. Taylor, meanwhile, added 123 rushing yards on 21 carries, carrying the weight of the offense. Rookie Tyler Warren contributed six receptions and a touchdown, showing great maturity. Despite Arizona’s final push, the Indianapolis defense held firm when the Cardinals reached the nine-yard line, thwarting any comeback attempt.

The Cardinals, who have now lost four straight games, squandered another lead in the fourth quarter. With Jacoby Brissett starting in place of Kyler Murray, Arizona had flashes of offensive brilliance: 320 passing yards, two touchdowns, and one interception, plus a strong performance from tight end Trey McBride, who had eight receptions and one touchdown. However, the defense once again faltered at key moments.

Result: Colts 31–27 Cardinals

NFL Week 6 Roundup: Buccaneers vs. 49ers

In one of the most intense matchups of Week 6, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers defeated the San Francisco 49ers 30-19 in a game that remained close until the fourth quarter. Baker Mayfield was the star of the game with an inspired performance, throwing two touchdown passes and showing composure in decisive moments. Tampa Bay capitalized on its opportunities in the red zone, while San Francisco had to settle for field goals on several of its offensive drives.

The key to the victory was the Buccaneers’ efficiency, as they closed out the game with a field goal in the fourth quarter to secure their fifth win of the season. Mayfield not only led the passing attack but also managed the clock with precision and avoided costly mistakes. Tampa’s receivers responded at key moments, keeping the offense moving against a 49ers defense that failed to contain them.

For its part, San Francisco showed flashes of brilliance, but its offense fell short in the end zone. Despite moving the ball regularly, field goals were not enough to stay in the game against a more effective opponent. With this loss, the 49ers have suffered several consecutive setbacks after a strong start to the season, while Tampa Bay continues to climb in the NFC with a 5-1 record and its sights set on its next challenge against the Detroit Lions.

Result: Buccaneers 30–19 49ers

NFL Week 6 Roundup: Chiefs vs. Lions

The Kansas City Chiefs returned to form and sent a clear message to the rest of the league with their 30-17 victory over the Detroit Lions. After a tough loss to the Jaguars the previous week, Andy Reid’s team showed authority and balance in all phases of the game, reminding everyone why they remain one of the top contenders for the title. With a revitalized offense and a disciplined defense, Kansas City dominated from start to finish.

Patrick Mahomes was the linchpin of the victory with 257 passing yards, three touchdowns through the air and one on the ground, completing 22 of 30 passes. His main targets were Hollywood Brown, who scored twice, and Xavier Worthy, who added another. In addition, the return of Travis Kelce as an offensive leader was key: the tight end once again led the team with 78 receiving yards, demonstrating his usual chemistry with his quarterback.

The Lions, on the other hand, looked out of rhythm and without alternatives in the face of constant pressure from the Chiefs’ defense. Jared Goff threw two touchdown passes, but Detroit failed to establish its running game or capitalize on its fourth-down opportunities. Kansas City, meanwhile, completed a flawless game without penalties and now stands at 3-3, while the Lions drop to 4-2. This matchup could very well be repeated later in the playoffs or even in a future Super Bowl.

Result: Chiefs 30–17 Lions
