Why Bet on Texans?

The Houston Texans are far from replicating last season’s success when they reached the playoffs. They currently sit third in the AFC South with a 3-5 record, well behind the Indianapolis Colts (7-2).

They’re coming off a home loss to the Denver Broncos, falling 15-18 in a game where they failed to score a single touchdown—all their points came from Ka’imi Fairbairn’s field goals.

CJ Stroud only played the first quarter, completing six of 10 passes, and will miss this weekend’s game as he remains in concussion protocol. Davis Mills will take over as the starting quarterback. Against the Broncos, he completed 17 of 30 passes for 137 yards. Earlier this season, he saw limited action in Week 5 against the Baltimore Ravens, completing two of four passes for 23 yards.

Mills was drafted by the Texans in 2021 and started during his first two seasons before being moved to the bench. In total, he has 6,327 passing yards, 35 touchdowns, and 25 interceptions. This will be his first start since January 8, 2023.

It won’t be an easy task for Mills—not only is he lacking game rhythm, but he also has to lead an offense that ranks among the lowest-scoring in the league, with just 168 total points, averaging 21 per game.

Why Bet on Jaguars?

The Jacksonville Jaguars have been one of the surprises of the season. With a 5-3 record, they sit second in the AFC South and seventh in the conference, currently holding a playoff spot.

After two straight losses, they bounced back with a tight 29-30 overtime win on the road against the Las Vegas Raiders. A field goal by Cam Little tied the game on the final play of regulation, and they secured the victory by blocking Geno Smith’s two-point conversion attempt in overtime.

It was a strong performance from Trevor Lawrence, who scored two of the team’s three touchdowns, including one in overtime. With the receiving corps struggling, all of Jacksonville’s scores came on the ground; the other rushing touchdown came from rookie Bhayshul Tuten, who now has two on the ground and one through the air this season.

Lawrence also completed 23 of 34 passes for 220 yards, threw one interception, and was sacked once.

Final Betting Analysis: Texans vs. Jaguars

A key game in the AFC South, as a loss for the Texans could severely hurt their postseason hopes. However, with Mills starting at quarterback, their struggling offense seems to have even fewer chances, which is why we believe the Jaguars will take the win.

The numbers at Gambyl Exchange have the Jaguars as the favorite, with their Moneyline at -120, while the Texans are listed at +100.

The last time these two teams faced each other was on September 21 of this year, when the Jaguars won 17-10, ending the Texans’ two-game winning streak. The last time they played in Houston, the home team won 24-20.

Go for a win for the Jaguars. If you bet $100 at -120, you will gain $83 for a total payout of $183.
