It was a great weekend in England with Matchday 3 of the Premier League, where there were several surprises, and now only one team remains with a perfect record.

In the most anticipated clash, Liverpool beat Arsenal 1-0 with a brilliant goal from Dominik Szoboszlai to take the lead at the top.

But there were big surprises, such as Brighton’s win over Manchester City (2-1), Bournemouth’s away victory over Tottenham (0-1), and Crystal Palace’s 0-3 triumph at Aston Villa.

Manchester United returned to winning ways with a controversial last-minute penalty to defeat Burnley 3-2, in a round that saw only one draw.

In a match where VAR played a key role, Chelsea defeated Fulham 2-0 to remain unbeaten, while their rivals are still searching for their first win.

In the 23rd minute, it seemed the deadlock had been broken with a great goal from Joshua King, but after a VAR review, the referee disallowed it due to a foul on Trevoh Chalobah at the start of the play. In the final minute of first-half stoppage time, João Pedro headed in the opener from a corner kick. In the second half, VAR intervened again to call the referee over for a possible handball inside the visitors’ area. After review, a penalty was awarded, and Enzo Fernández converted it to seal the 2-0 victory. Chelsea now sit second with seven points, while Fulham are 18th with just two.

Premier League Matchday 3: Tottenham vs. Bournemouth

One of the surprises of the weekend came in North London, where Bournemouth beat Tottenham away from home (0-1).

After a small early scare, the ‘Cherries’ opened the scoring very early with a goal from Evanilson in the fifth minute. The Brazilian received a great pass from Marcos Senesi, took the shot, and benefited from a deflection off the home defense to make it 0-1.

After that, Bournemouth were clearly superior with many chances, but the posts, poor finishing, and an outstanding Guglielmo Vicario prevented the second goal from coming.

‘Spurs’ came close with a very good strike from Mathys Tel, but it wasn’t enough. They lost their unbeaten run, remaining on six points—the same as the ‘Cherries’.

Premier League Matchday 3: Nottingham Forest vs. West Ham

In a lopsided result that exaggerated how the match actually played out, West Ham crushed Nottingham Forest 0-3 away to claim their first victory.

It was a tight and balanced game with chances for both sides, and up until the 83rd minute, it was still 0-0. The first goal came in the 84th minute with a shot from the edge of the box by Jarrod Bowen that slid low and tucked inside the post.

Four minutes later, Lucas Paquetá converted a penalty, scoring in his third consecutive match. To wrap up the scoreline, Callum Wilson headed in his first goal in a ‘Hammers’ shirt after joining this summer following five years at Newcastle.

West Ham are now out of last place, picking up their first points and moving into 16th, while Forest sit 10th with four points.

Premier League Matchday 3: Liverpool vs. Arsenal

In the big match of the weekend between the two leaders with perfect starts, Liverpool defeated Arsenal 1-0 to take first place.

The only goal of the game was scored by Hungarian Dominik Szoboszlai with a 30-meter free kick. It was an excellent strike from the midfielder that left David Raya with no chance and broke open a tight match with few opportunities.

The ‘Reds’ ended a six-match winless streak against the ‘Gunners’, losing two of those, and now lead with nine points out of nine, eight goals scored, and four conceded.

As for the London side, who also lost William Saliba to injury—joining Bukayo Saka, Kai Havertz, and others—they now sit third with six points, six goals scored, and only one conceded.
