However, a big surprise to see, if you were expecting a season like the previous one, was to have the Tottenham Hotspurs placed in the 17th spot with such little success, even though they ended on a -1 differential, scoring high numbers.
It didn’t stop them from getting their UEFA Champions League spot, just like placing 15th didn’t stop Crystal Palace from making it to the Europa League.
But now, it is time to look at the top of the board and our Premier League crowned champions.
A Change of Pace Halfway Through the Season
At the beginning of the Season, Nottm Forest exceeded all expectations, taking the top spot and leading with ease for a bit until things caught up to them, and they slowed down.
In the end, they managed to land 7th on the board, but they were looking like a world-beater at the start. However, the team that did the opposite was Liverpool, who seemed to be fighting their regular spots at first but then started swinging hard.
They came from behind and not only took over but ended up with a 10-point lead over the 2nd-placed Arsenal, even after slowing down hard on the last four days of the season.
Arsenal, Manchester City, Chelsea, and Newcastle secured their spots in the next season’s UEFA Champions, and Aston Villa managed to take Nottm Forest out of the Europa League spot.
Notable Finishes from the Top Teams
Liverpool reclaimed the Premier League crown, securing the title with a few matches to spare and finishing the season on 84 points. Under the guidance of Arne Slot, the Reds displayed a mix of tactical maturity and attacking sharpness. Mohamed Salah once again led the line, finishing with 29 league goals and also topping the assist chart. For a team that hadn’t lifted the domestic trophy since 2020, this campaign marked a triumphant return to the summit of English football.
Manchester City and Chelsea came to the top of the board with strong finishes in their last five matches, as both of them won four out of the previous five, pleased their fans, and assured international action for everyone to enjoy.
We could also point out that Brighton was on the same train, landing four out of their last five, but their efforts were not enough to get higher than the 8th place on the board.
