The Liga MX opening tournament 2022-23 continues with its actions. Finally, the extensive matchday 3 has already ended, which was played last Wednesday. It generated different important results for what will be the beginning of a fourth matchday that could have a new leader of the standings, depending on what happens in today’s match of Pachuca.

In a match where Club América had everything to take a comfortable victory; Toluca gave them more of a fight than they expected. Above all, they demonstrated a very solid defense avoiding the goal in all of América’s scoring chances (which were quite a few).

One of the revelations of the tournament in only 3 match days we can say that it is Leon’s striker, Lucas Di Yorio, who was in charge of saving his team in their match against Puebla last Friday, scoring the goal of the 1-1 tie, being this his fourth goal at this beginning of the season.

Puebla started the match with all their arsenal, stifling León to such an extent that it looked like the match would end with a goal. However, this level of play only lasted 25 minutes; where they managed to score the lead goal through Omar Fernández in the 21st minute.

Everything looked like it was going to be fantastic for Puebla, as, in minute 45+4, León was reduced to 10 players after Stiven Barreiro was sent off. However, Puebla was unable to take advantage of their supremacy on the field for long, as just 3 minutes into the second half, Maximiliano Araujo was also shown the red card, leaving both teams with 10 players.

From that moment on, the match became a bit turbid and without clear chances. It was not until the 79th minute when Argentine Lucas Di Yorio managed to equalize the score to put the game to rest.

After this result, Puebla remains at the top of the standings, while León dropped to seventh place.

A true rain of goals was what we experienced in the great match between Cruz Azul and Atlas played on this matchday 3, which ended with a victory for Atlas, with a score of 3-2.

This was the match we all expected, both teams attacking each other and looking to score goals at every opportunity they had.

Cruz Azul stood up to the two-time Mexican soccer champion at the Jalisco Stadium, but the expulsion of Carlos Rotondi and the lack of reinforcements conditioned the game for the visitors, who came up just short of a draw against Atlas. 

Just 10 minutes into the match, Jonathan Herrera scored the first goal for Atlas. Cruz Azul did not sleep and, just 11 minutes later, managed to tie the score 1-1 thanks to a goal by Santiago Giménez.

From this point on, it was a game of giving and take, either team deserved to score a goal, but they did not finish their attacks in a good way.

The match lost its track in the 45+5th minute when Carlos Rotondi was sent off, leaving Cruz Azul with 10 players.

In the second half, specifically in the 70th minute, Atlas went up on the scoreboard with a goal by Jeremy Márquez and, 12 minutes later, Julián Quiñones scored the 3-1 that seemed to be definitive in the match. In the 86th minute, Cruz Azul scored a goal by Christian Tabó, but it was not enough.

After this result, Cruz Azul dropped to 12th place while Atlas, with its first victory of the season, moved up to ninth place.

Liga MX Matchday 3: Tigres UANL vs. Tijuana

Victory seemed to be eluding Tigres, as three goals were disallowed for offside, but thanks to Raymundo Fulgencio’s goal, they recorded their second victory of the tournament against Tijuana by the minimum difference.

The team coached by Miguel Herrera was dominant against their rival and even had chances to score, although an offside position played against them in a bad way. At minute 33, Juan Pablo Vigón opened the scoring, but his celebration was frustrated after the play was disallowed.

Florian Thauvin had a spectacular game but had two goals disallowed for offside.

It was not until minute 77 that Raymundo Fulgencio gave his team the victory with a powerful right-footed shot, his second goal for Tigres.

After this victory, Tigres UANL moved into fifth place in the table, while Tijuana continues its bad streak and dropped to second-to-last place.
