Jos\u00e9 Aldo da Silva Oliveira J\u00fanior<\/strong>, is a Brazilian professional mixed martial artist. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Aldo currently competes in the\u00a0Ultimate Fighting Championship<\/a> (UFC)<\/strong>.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He was the fourth and final WEC\u00a0Featherweight\u00a0<\/strong>Champion, becoming the first\u00a0UFC <\/a>Featherweight\u00a0<\/strong>Champion after the\u00a0UFC\/WEC<\/strong>\u00a0merger.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He is a former two-time undisputed UFC featherweight <\/strong>champion. As of 26 July 2021, he is #5 in the UFC bantamweight <\/strong>rankings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After his first MMA <\/strong>defeat in November 2005, Aldo remained undefeated for over a decade, winning 18 straight fights until UFC <\/strong>194 in December 2015.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He was named Sherdog’s 2009 Fighter of the Year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In Sherdog’s April 2017 pound-for-pound ranking, Aldo was called “the greatest featherweight in mixed martial arts history.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  • Aldo vs. McGregor:<\/strong><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n

    Aldo<\/strong> faced McGregor<\/strong> in a title unification match on 12 December 2015, at UFC 194.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    He lost the fight via knockout 13 seconds into the first round, resulting in his first defeat in over ten years and his first-ever loss at featherweight, ending a 15 fight win streak in the division.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    • Aldo vs. Frankie Edgar:<\/strong><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n

      Aldo<\/strong> faced Frankie Edgar<\/strong> in a rematch on 9 July 2016, at UFC <\/strong>200 for the interim UFC Featherweight Championship<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      He won the fight by unanimous decision (49\u201346, 49\u201346, and 48\u201347).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      On 26 November 2016, McGregor <\/strong>was stripped of the title after winning the UFC Lightweight<\/strong> Championship, having never defended the Featherweight <\/strong>belt since he won it in December 2015. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

      As a result, Aldo was promoted to Featherweight Champion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      Aldo vs. Holloway 1 & 2<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

      Aldo faced interim featherweight <\/strong>champion, Max Holloway<\/strong>, in a title unification bout on 3 June 2017, in the main event at UFC <\/strong>212.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      After winning the first two rounds on all three judges’ scorecards, he lost the fight by TKO in the third round.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      Aldo<\/strong> pulled out from another bout in favor of a rematch with Holloway<\/strong> two weeks earlier at UFC 218, replacing an injured Frankie Edgar<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      Similar to the first fight, Aldo<\/strong> found success in the opening rounds before slowing down and losing the fight via TKO in the third round.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      • Aldo vs. Jeremy Stephens:<\/strong><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n

        Aldo <\/strong>faced Jeremy Stephens at UFC on Fox 30 on 28 July 2018.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

        Aldo <\/strong>won the fight by TKO after a left hook to the body dropped Stephens<\/strong>, followed by subsequent strikes from Aldo<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

        This win earned him the Performance of the Night award.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

        • Aldo vs. Moicano:<\/strong><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n

          Aldo faced Renato Moicano<\/strong> on 2 February 2019 in the co-main event at UFC <\/strong>Fight Night 144.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

          He won the fight via TKO in the second round.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

          This win earned him the Performance of the Night award.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

          • Aldo vs. Volkanovski<\/strong><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n

            Aldo faced Alexander Volkanovski<\/strong> at UFC <\/strong>237 on 11 May 2019, in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

            He lost the fight via unanimous decision.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

            Switch over to Bantamweight:<\/h4>\n\n\n\n
            • Jose Aldo vs. Marlon Moraes:<\/strong><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n

              On 23 October 2019, Aldo announced his move down to the Bantamweight <\/strong>division. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

              He faced Marlon Moraes<\/strong> at UFC 245<\/strong> on 14 December 2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

              He lost the largely contested bout via split decision.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

              • Jose Aldo vs. Petr Yan<\/strong><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n

                At UFC 249<\/strong>, Cejudo <\/strong>announced he would be retiring from an active mixed martial arts competition and he vacated the UFC bantamweight <\/strong>championship. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

                The UFC <\/strong>then announced that Aldo <\/strong>would be facing Petr Yan<\/strong> at UFC 251<\/strong> on 12 July 2020, for the vacant bantamweight <\/strong>title.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

                Aldo lost the bout via technical knockout in round five.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

                • Jose Aldo vs. Marlon Vera<\/strong><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n

                  Aldo faced Marlon Vera<\/strong> on 19 December 2020 at UFC Fight Night 183<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

                  He won the fight via unanimous decision.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

                  • Jose Aldo vs. Pedro Munhoz<\/strong><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n

                    Aldo faced Pedro Munhoz<\/strong> on 7 August 2021 at UFC 265.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
