He currently competes in the Featherweight <\/strong>division for the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC)<\/strong><\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

A professional competitor since 2007, Kattar <\/strong>formerly competed for EliteXC<\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

As of April 26, 2021, he is #5 in the UFC featherweight<\/strong> rankings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kattar <\/strong>won eight consecutive bouts and was unbeaten in over seven years competing on the regional circuit primarily in his native New England before his UFC <\/strong>career.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kattar vs Burgos<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Kattar<\/strong> faced undefeated prospect, Shane Burgos<\/strong>, on January 20, 2018, at UFC 220<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Calvin <\/strong>won the fight via technical knockout in round three.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, Magomedsharipov <\/strong>was removed from the card due to injury on September 13. Rescheduling the pairing for the following month at UFC on ESPN+ 21<\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

He lost the fight via unanimous decision.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This fight earned him the Fight of the Night award.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kattar vs Stephens<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Kattar <\/strong>was scheduled to face Jeremy Stephens<\/strong> on April 18, 2020, at UFC 249<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, on April 9, Dana White<\/strong>, the president of the UFC, <\/strong>announced that this event was postponed and the bout eventually took place on May 9, 2020.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the weigh-ins on May 8, Stephens <\/strong>missed weight, weighing in at 150.5 pounds, 4.5 pounds over the non-title featherweight <\/strong>limit. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

As a result, the bout proceeded as a catchweight <\/strong>bout, and Stephens was fined 20% of his purse which went to Kattar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The first bout of his new six-fight contract came against Dan Ige<\/strong> on July 16, 2020, at UFC on ESPN: Kattar vs. Ige.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kattar <\/strong>won the fight by unanimous decision.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kattar vs Holloway:<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Next, Kattar <\/strong>faced former UFC Featherweight Champion Max Holloway<\/strong>, while headlining UFC on ABC 1<\/strong> on January 16, 2021.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In a one-sided fight where Kattar <\/strong>suffered plenty of physical trauma due to Holloway’s <\/strong>strikes, which set multiple UFC <\/strong>records, he was defeated by unanimous decision.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Despite being a one-sided fight, both competitors earned the Fight of the Night award<\/em> as Kattar <\/strong>was able to land powerful strikes of his own, despite all the damage he received.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
