After a couple of weeks of Christmas holidays, the PGA Tour<\/a><\/strong> resumes its calendar of the 2021-22 season with the first tournament of the new year, the classic Sentry<\/strong> Tournament of Champions<\/strong> in which all the champions of the circuit compete in 2021. There was an event at the Plantation Course<\/strong> at Kapalua<\/strong> and one of the most prominent golfers will participate in the Spanish Jon Rahm<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Sentry Tournament of Champions<\/strong> takes place during the first week of January; since 1999, it’s been on the Plantation Course<\/strong> at the Kapalua Resort<\/strong> near Lahaina on the island of Maui in Hawaii.<\/strong> Unlike most PGA Tour<\/strong> events, it is a par 73 course.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For the tournament played in 2021, the PGA Tour<\/strong> announced that the field would be expanded to include the top 30 players who qualify for the 2020 Tour Championship<\/strong> in addition to the tournament winners during the calendar year 2020. The change was made after the cancellation of ten tournaments due to the COVID-19<\/strong> pandemic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The event marks the start of the 2022 calendar year. Kapalua’s Plantation Course<\/strong> is a great host, with the Coore and Crenshaw<\/strong> design offering ample playing areas from tee to green; yet still demanding a great short game to win.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The 42 participants of the tournament that takes place at the Plantation Course of Kapalua<\/strong>, on the island of Maui, Hawaii<\/strong>, will try to achieve the spectacular prize pool of 64 points in the world golf ranking that the winner will add, and take home the $1,340,000 check reserved for the successor to Justin Thomas<\/strong>, who was the winner of the tournament played in 2021.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This is the perfect opportunity for all professional golfers to prove their worth in a first-rate event, as well as, for those who are already established, to demonstrate the level at which they are starting this New Year 2022.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
