UFC 271 – Round-Up and Pick Predictions<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n

This weekend we had an interesting event in the UFC 271<\/a><\/strong>, as we had a tactical approach from the defending and still current champion, and an exciting upset on the Co-Main Event.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We are going to dive into what happened in each of the 5 matches we previously gave our predictions for and break down what we saw from the fighters and what is in store for us at a later time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

You can check all the UFC\/MMA <\/strong>bets, the analysis of each fighter, and the final bet you can make in future fights.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

UFC 271 Round-Up \u2013 Adesanya vs. Whittaker 2 \u2013 Review and Fight Analysis<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Adesanya vs. Whittaker: The Champion defends the belt.<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Our Pick: Israel Adesanya<\/em><\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Outcome: Israel Adesanya wins via Unanimous Decision after 5 rounds.<\/em><\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Both middleweights landed whipping leg kicks in the early going. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Adesanya <\/strong>did score a flash knockdown along the cage, but Whittaker <\/strong>was able to return to his feet. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Adesanya <\/strong>kept things rolling in the second round as he displayed some sensational head movement and counter striking. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, Whittaker <\/strong>secured his first takedown of the fight and regained some momentum.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the third, Adesanya <\/strong>kept the pressure up and started to wear on Whittaker<\/strong>, but \u201cBobby Knuckles\u201d kept fighting back with takedown attempts and clinch work. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Whittaker <\/strong>threatened with a standing rear-naked choke in the fourth round, but the \u201cLast Stylebender\u201d powered through it and started on the attack again. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Whittaker<\/strong> went back to his wrestling in the fifth as well as landing a few good shots in the clinch, but his efforts were simply too late. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Adesanya <\/strong>did enough over the course of all five rounds to escape with the decision, by a slight margin.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lewis vs. Tuivasa: The Upset, The KO King was Knocked Out.<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Our Prediction: Derrick Lewis<\/em><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

The outcome: Tai Tuivasa KOs Lewis via Elbow strike at 1:40 of Round 2<\/em><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

The crowd was on fire. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The fight was the fire. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tuivasa <\/strong>showed some new wrinkles in his game, dodging big shots and not totally engaging in murder death kill exchanges. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tai <\/strong>was having a hard time during the first round, having to focus on the clinch work as Lewis <\/strong>made it difficult to get something going.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lewis <\/strong>controlled the position when they got to the ground, unloading strong shots as Tuivasa <\/strong>made his way back to his feet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The second round was at first showing more of the same, with Lewis <\/strong>controlling the positioning and trying to go in for the kill.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lewis<\/strong>‘ rushed approach was the downfall, as Tuiviasa <\/strong>got the best of the exchange and rushed him into the cage to mix it up with shots and elbows, managing to KO the Black Beast out Cold.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cannonier vs. Brunson: 1 Shot marked the beginning of the end.<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Our Pick: Jared Cannonier<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

The Outcome: Jared Cannonier via KO by Elbows on 4:29 of the 2nd Round<\/em><\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

‘The Killa Gorilla\u2019 looked bad until he didn\u2019t. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Derek Brunson<\/strong> had a great first round and looked to be in control, but all it took was one big shot to change up the dynamic. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Proving, as it was mentioned in our prediction article, that he has the biggest KO Power on the Middleweight division, he pounded Brunson <\/strong>out and cemented himself as the next title challenger.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Phillips vs Rojo: An Excellent display of Mixed Martial Arts<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Our Prediction: Kyler Phillips<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

The Outcome: Kyler Phillips via Triangle-Armbar at 1:48 of the 3rd round<\/em><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Kyler Phillips <\/strong>gave us a fun fight to watch. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The 26-year-old bantamweight rebounded from his loss to Raulian Paiva<\/strong> with a comprehensive display of MMA <\/strong>against Marcelo Rojo<\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Phillips <\/strong>bossed the fight on the feet and had Rojo\u2019s <\/strong>lead leg jacked up through a steady diet of kicks, then he took the fight to the mat in the 3rd round and transitioned from a triangle to the fight-ending armbar. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Phillips <\/strong>is a dangerous opponent for damn near anyone at this weight class.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Green vs. Haqparast: Possibly Green’s best performance to date.<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Our Prediction: Bobby Green<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

The Outcome: Bobby Green Via Unanimous Decision<\/em><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

“This one should come down to which Green <\/strong>turns up.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

That is the first line of our prediction on this fight, and it sure was right, as Bobby Green<\/strong> may have put forth his best UFC <\/strong>performance yet, and that\u2019s saying something. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Again we see the same old hands low, odd jabby stuff, and Nasrat Haqparast <\/strong>had no real answer for it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Haqparast <\/strong>had his moments, but Green <\/strong>touched him up on the regular and took a dominant decision.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Aftermath – The Next Middleweight Title Fight is already set:<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Our predictions landed 4 out of 5 matches correctly in this UFC 271<\/strong>, but there is nothing to be mad about as watching the upset from\u00a0Tai Tuivasa<\/strong>\u00a0and the shoey afterward may have been the highlight of the event in my personal opinion.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As Dana White confirmed on the post-fight interviews, next time we watch Adesanya <\/strong>on the Ring, he will be defending his title against Jared Cannonier<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
