If there is a boxer <\/a>who represents the Mexican style and was not born in that country, that is Rom\u00e1n “Chocolatito” Gonz\u00e1lez<\/strong>. The 34-year-old Nicaraguan once again gave a lecture on how to box <\/a>in a close-range fight. The former world champion was going to close his trilogy against Gallo Estrada<\/strong>, who won a year ago, but the Mexican was not in a position because he recently tested positive for Covid-19, so Julio C\u00e9sar “Rey” Mart\u00ednez<\/strong> accepted the challenge.

Martinez<\/strong> had to move up a category, so he had nothing to lose. But, his mentality played against him and, therefore, he was a long way from winning this fight. Chocolatito’s precision and good defense were too great a burden for the WBC<\/strong> flyweight champion. Mart\u00ednez<\/strong> showed courage and claw, resisted like a warrior, but fell.

The punishment that Mart\u00ednez<\/strong> received was very great, despite this, the Mexican promised to go until the end of the fight and he succeeded. Mart\u00ednez<\/strong> knew that he was about to be knocked out, but he was able to hold on and Chocolatito<\/strong> needed the cards to win (118-110, 117-111, and 116-112).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

First Strikes<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The fight already started badly for Mart\u00ednez<\/strong>. How he had to move up in category to play this fight, he failed on the scale. He had to lose part of his bag due to a fine imposed on him. He needed a second weigh-in on the morning of the fight and that took him away from getting in the ring. His drive was from the heart, but perhaps he lacked a bit of physique at certain times.

The fight started very intense, Mart\u00ednez<\/strong> conceded almost all of his goals and although he worked hard, Chocolatito Gonzalez <\/strong>was able to block most of the blows. That is to say, his opponent got tired and he did not leave beaten.

Except in the fifth round, where Gonz\u00e1lez’s<\/strong> acceleration did not come, the rest of the fight had the same dynamic, with the Nicaraguan on top of the Mexican. Chocolatito<\/strong> did a little more to win and in the seventh round, he conceded several very hard hands. He was on the verge of KO<\/strong> and when Gonz\u00e1lez<\/strong> went with everything, he slipped and from that point, he was a bit cold.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Despite receiving a multitude of power shots in a category that is not his, Mart\u00ednez <\/strong>endured without problems and showed his big heart. But, Gonz\u00e1lez<\/strong> ended up winning by unanimous decision by 118-110, 117-111, and 116-112.

We remember that Mart\u00ednez <\/strong>came out with an advantage by not making weight last Friday despite coming from flyweight.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
