After a break of just over three weeks, the Liga MX returns with the Clausura 2024 and becomes America’s first relevant soccer league to kick off this year. The tournament will begin on January 12 with Quer\u00e9taro vs. Toluca, and the regular phase will run through April 28. The playoffs will follow, with the final on May 26.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
As it could not be otherwise, Club Am\u00e9rica is the great favorite to revalidate the title in Mexican soccer, the one it won by beating Tigres in the second leg final at the Azteca stadium in December 2023. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Most of the stars of the ‘\u00c1guilas’ are still in the team, especially Juli\u00e1n Qui\u00f1ones, Diego Vald\u00e9s and Henry Mart\u00edn. The only absentee will be winger\/midfielder Miguel Lay\u00fan, who retired from professional soccer. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
On the other hand, Brazilian coach Andr\u00e9 Jardine has brought in left-back Cristian Calder\u00f3n from Chivas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The second team with the best chance of becoming champion in Mexico is Tigres, the current runner-up. The Monterrey side has played in the last two finals, winning one. However, they have made little progress in the market, adding Argentine playmaker Juan Brunetta but losing striker Raymundo Fulgencio.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
