The Clausura 2024 Tournament has finished, and after an entertaining Final between two excellent teams, Club Am\u00e9rica got the upper hand over Cruz Azul by a slight margin.

The Eagles were\u00a0on a hunt\u00a0to become the absolute champions by winning both the Apertura and Clausura championships, while\u00a0La Maquina was trying to find glory after their first successful season in some years.

The last game of the Clausura MX 2024 didn’t disappoint, and it is time to break down what took place and how our new champions managed to lift the cup.

La Maquina dominated the first half of this second-leg clash and had two\u00a0clear\u00a0goal attempts, but Luis\u00a0Malag\u00f3n made a spectacular save to maintain the result. For the second half, the visitors continued to\u00a0be better, but in\u00a0the 73rd minute, Am\u00e9rica took the lead thanks to a controversial penalty. It required a long review in the VAR to approve it since, although\u00a0it\u00a0was awarded\u00a0in the first instance, the replays showed that possibly there was no contact worthy of carrying out the sanction.\u00a0

The VAR ruled that it was a penalty by Rotondi on Israel Reyes, and Henry Mart\u00edn took the ball to collect\u00a0perfectly\u00a0and give his team the advantage. In the final minutes, Am\u00e9rica looked for a second goal, but Cruz\u00a0Azul went on the attack to find a goal that never came\u00a0thanks\u00a0to the sublime performance of Malag\u00f3n.

Even though the results of this clash allowed Am\u00e9rica to crown itself, Cruz Azul was the more aggressive team, shooting a few more times while also holding possession of the ball for 56% of the match.<\/strong>

Things could have been\u00a0quite a lot\u00a0closer and more exciting for the fans, but the locals managed to do the most out of the situation with that penalty shot, which allowed their fans to celebrate all night long after the victory.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
