The Matchday 25 of the 2024 MLS season has just wrapped up. The Eastern Conference was taken over by Cincinnati and we expected the team to make a gap at the front as Inter Miami would have the week off, but that didn’t get to happen.

In the West, the three-way tie for the lead in the Conferencemanaged to keep itself as such, as all of the top-placed teams lost their encounters, which left them at 43 points once again.

The top teams were drawn back a bit, but things continue to become more interesting as we start approaching the last stretch of the season, of course, before we enter the playoffs.

It is time for us to start breaking down the details regarding what went down on matchday 25 of the 2024 MLS season.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Orlando City SC picked up its third-straight victory, with three goals in the second half to defeat host New England Revolution 3-1. The victory marked the Lions\u2019 first-ever win in Foxborough, with Facundo Torres recording his second brace of the regular season and third across all competitions.

The Lions looked poor initially but started to find their footing toward the end of the first half and lived up to our great expectations, smashing New England in the second half.\u00a0

Three different players earned assists on Orlando\u2019s tallies on the evening, while defenders Rodrigo Schlegel and Kyle Smith both made their 100th all-time starts for the Lions in the match.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With an uncharacteristic performance in the first half, leaving a hole too deep for The Orange and Blue to climb out of, FCC fell 3-1 in a match that, at times, felt ripe for the taking despite the challenges.

Frustrated by the staunch defense of Charlotte, a defense that has conceded the fewest goals per match in MLS this season, FC Cincinnati found themselves down by two early when the Charlotte attack jumped on their miscues.

In the final moments, bad turned to worse as FCC captain and goalscorer Luciano Acosta exited the match after going down and requiring medical attention, drawing a line under a disappointing night. Now down to nine men, Cincinnati saw out the final few minutes and took their defeat.

With the defeat, FC Cincinnati kept their Supporters\u2019 Shield lead but sat on 48 points exiting the match.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Defender Ruan Gregorio Teixeira scored a second-half goal, and goalkeeper Jonathan Sirois did not have to make a save on the way to his fifth clean sheet of the season as CF Montreal defeated Atlanta United 1-0 on Saturday night.

Neither team scored until Ruan used an assist from Raheem Edwards in the 51st minute to score his second goal of <\/strong>the MLS 2024. <\/strong><\/a>It was the fourth assist this season for Edwards.<\/strong>

Atlanta United had to play a man down four minutes after defender Stian Gregersen was given a second yellow card, leading to a red card and a one-match suspension.

Atlanta returns home to play New York City FC on Wednesday. Montreal travels to play the New York Red Bulls on the same day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On Saturday night at Toyota Stadium, FC Dallas comfortably beat LA Galaxy behind a first-half goal from club record signing Petar Musa and a second-half insurance goal from rookie Logan Farrington.

The match started with the Galaxy, tied at the top of the conference, having the majority of the possession. MLS All-Star selection and former Barcelona player Riqui Puig was picking passes out from midfield, and FCD chances were few and far between.

Despite being on the back foot and relying mostly on counter-attacks, the locals grew into the match and proved the more dangerous side in the final third. They took a surprising win and kept the top team at their draw at the top of the board.
