The Italian Grand Prix is the fifth oldest national motor racing Grand Prix (after the French Grand Prix, the United States Grand Prix, the Spanish Grand Prix, and the Russian Grand Prix), having been held since 1921.

Since 2013, it has been the Grand Prix held the most times, with 93 editions as of 2023. It is one of the two (along with the British) that has run as an event of the Formula One World Championship Grands Prix every season, continuously since it was first introduced in 1950.

Every Formula One Italian Grand Prix in the World Championship era has been held at Monza except in 1980 when it was held at Imola.

This is a race with a ton of story behind it, and as such, it is quite an important date in every racing calendar, both for the fans and the drivers who come to face the circuit.

So now, as the drivers finish their practice sessions, we are getting ready to see what we should see unfold on the race this Sunday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

2024 Italian GP Preview and Free Pick<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

As the 2024 Formula 1 season has drawn on, Max Verstappen’s grip on the top spot has loosened considerably. It seems unlikely that the field will be able to catch him in the Driver’s Standings because of how dominant he started the year, but it could be a sign of parity to come.

The field has tightened so much that\u00a0Formula 1 odds\u00a0don’t have Verstappen positioned as the betting favorite to win the Italian Grand Prix, a race he’s taken in two straight years. Instead, Lando Norris is drawing the shortest odds ahead of qualifying.

Verstappen still owns a healthy lead in the F1 standings <\/a>thanks to seven wins, but that is weighted heavily on the earlier portion of the calendar.

Verstappen hasn’t won any of his last five races, marking his longest winless stretch since 2020. He has only two podium finishes in those events since winning the Spanish GP in late June.

Norris is fresh off a victory at the Dutch GP, which marked his second checkered flag of the season.\u00a0

McLaren teammate Oscar Piastri is the other driver drawing short odds. Piastri won the Hungarian GP earlier this year and has finished fourth or better in five consecutive events.

To be clear, things have changed quickly this year as Verstappen looked invincible again to start the year, but last week, we saw Norris win by 22 seconds, and he\u2019s surely the favorite to have the best rest of the season.

Norris will be competing for wins the rest of the season, it would take a wreck or something crazy for Lando to not end up on the podium this week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
