After the weekend games for matchday 29, things seem to be getting more consistent for the teams at the top of the MLS conferences. The eastern side leaders got dominant victories in their last encounters. When it comes to the west, one of the top teams lost their chance to catch up to the leader, while the other pushed on their chances and are now fighting for the 2nd spot.

There were not many surprises during this last matchday, except, of course, for the shocker that Houston Dynamo pulled off as the team was trying to make a statement to climb up on the board.

Now, it is time to break down some of the results we got after the weekend action.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cincinnati grabbed a 1-0 lead in the 36th minute on an\u00a0unassisted goal by rookie forward Kevin Kelsy. It was the sixth for the 20-year-old forward, making his 12th start and 17th appearance.<\/strong>

Not too long after, they achieved 2-0 when Orellano scored off a free kick with a left-footed shot to the bottom right corner of the net. Orellano scored off another free kick to make it 3-0 four minutes later.

Sergio Santos used defender Chidozie Awaziem\u2019s first career assist (in his second start and appearance) to find the net for the third time this season in the 71st minute.<\/strong> Opoku got the discount for the Canadians at the 81st minute.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Luis Suarez continued his incredible form since returning from Copa America action, scoring a second-half brace to power Miami to a 4-1 victory over the Chicago Fire on Saturday.

The Fire caved in early and couldn’t get back on track against the Eastern Conference leaders. In the 25th minute, Chicago’s Tobias Salquist saw the ball deflect off of him into his net, handing\u00a0the Herons\u00a0the early advantage they needed and one that set the tone for the clash, too. Suarez forced the initial shot, and that was the start of his performance, as well.

In the final 45 minutes, Suarez bagged an effort just one minute after the break to double their lead and added a second to his tally in the 66th minute.

Chicago earned a late consolation goal, with Georgios Koutsias tapping home in the 82nd minute, but the momentum was short-lived, with Miami’s Robert Taylor adding a fourth in stoppage time to put the result in stone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Anderson Julio scored unassisted three minutes into stoppage time to give Real Salt Lake a 1-0 lead before the break.

Quinton scored in the 56th minute for a two-goal lead. It was his second career goal and first in eight starts and 12 appearances since coming over from the Columbus Crew. Braian Ojeda picked up his fourth assist of the MLS season.<\/a><\/strong>

Gavin Beavers finished with two saves to earn his third clean sheet in his eighth start in goal for Real Salt Lake, and Aljaz Ivacic saved eight shots for the Revolution.<\/strong>

Real Salt Lake played without Cristian \u201cChicho\u201d Arango, who injured his hamstring in a 2-0 home loss to the last-place San Jose Earthquakes last time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

LAFC has a squad that is the envy of most MLS sides, but they unexpectedly unraveled at home 2-0 against Houston Dynamo in the biggest upset of the weekend.

Even more surprising was the match wasn’t close. The Dynamo dominated possession (58.7 percent), created more chances (2.2 XG vs. LAFC’s 1.2), and, most importantly, was effective. <\/strong>

New Houston center forward Ezequiel Ponce proved his worth, scoring his first MLS goal since his arrival in late July.

This result will raise expectations for the Dynamo and leave questions for Los Angeles coming forward.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
