Another exciting weekend in the English Premier League unfolded during Matchday 17, delivering surprising results and shifts in the standings.

In a goal-packed showdown, Liverpool triumphed over Tottenham with a stunning 3-6 victory on the road. This result not only secured their lead at the top of the table but also extended their advantage, thanks to Chelsea’s goalless draw against Everton.

Arsenal returned to winning ways with a dominant performance versus Crystal Palace. However, the biggest surprises are in the fourth and fifth spots: Nottingham Forest and Bournemouth, respectively.

Nottingham Forest secured a 0-2 win over Brentford, while Bournemouth crushed Manchester United with a 0-3 victory, both on the road.

Meanwhile, Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City continues to struggle. This time, they suffered a 2-1 defeat to Aston Villa, dropping to seventh place in the league standings. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Aston Villa secured a crucial victory, defeating Manchester City 2-1 to overtake them in the standings and climb to sixth place.

The match opened early, in the 16th minute, with Jhon Dur\u00e1n calmly finishing after a pass from Morgan Rogers. This marked the Colombian’s fourth consecutive game scoring, giving him the best goal-per-minute ratio in the Premier League: <\/a>one goal every 80 minutes.

In the second half, Rogers added a goal of his own, receiving the ball in the box and firing a low, angled shot to make it 2-0.

Deep into stoppage time, at 90+3\u2019, an error by Lucas Digne handed the ball to Phil Foden, who capitalized and scored in front of the goalkeeper. However, it wasn\u2019t enough for a comeback.

Arsenal returned to winning ways after two consecutive draws by crushing Crystal Palace 1-5 away from home.

Gabriel Jesus, who had scored a hat-trick against the same team earlier in the week in the EFL Cup (3-2), was once again the standout player with two goals and came close to scoring several more. The Brazilian striker opened the scoring just six minutes in, pouncing on a loose ball near the edge of the six-yard box.

However, the hosts quickly equalized just five minutes later with a well-placed shot to the far post by Isma\u00efla Sarr.

Palace\u2019s joy was short-lived. At the 15th minute, Gabriel Jesus struck again with a first-time shot into the top corner after a cut-back pass from Thomas Partey. Jesus nearly secured a third goal in the 38th minute, but his header struck the post. Kai Havertz, alert to the rebound, slotted it home to make it 1-3.

In the second half, Gabriel Martinelli sealed the victory in the 60th minute by deflecting a shot from Declan Rice. The English midfielder then wrapped up the scoring himself in the 84th minute with Arsenal\u2019s fifth goal.

In the second half, Mohamed Salah capitalized on a couple of rebounds to score in the 54th minute, adding another five minutes later and reaching 15 goals in the league and solidifying his position as the Premier League’s top scorer.

Tottenham attempted a comeback with goals from Dejan Kulusevski and Dominic Solanke, but Luis D\u00edaz sealed the game with a low cross-shot in the 85th minute.
