After the third Major of the year, the world\u2019s top golfers will meet once again at the Travelers Championship, taking place from June 19 to 22.

The tournament will be held at TPC River Highlands in Cromwell, Connecticut\u2014a par-70 course measuring 6,844 yards. It is the last of the eight Signature Events on the PGA Tour calendar.

The most recent winner was Scottie Scheffler, who defeated South Korea\u2019s Tom Kim in a playoff. The last eight champions have all been American, with Scotland\u2019s Russell Knox, in 2016, being the last international player to win the event. Billy Casper holds the record for the most titles here, with four. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

2025 Travelers Championship Top Contenders <\/h2>\n\n\n\n

A week after J.J. Spaun\u2019s U.S. Open title, we\u2019re once again saying that Scottie Scheffler is the principal contender. While he didn\u2019t win, he finished seventh in the Major and continues his strong form, with eight consecutive Top 10 finishes, including three victories. <\/strong>He\u2019s also the defending champion.

Overall, he has 10 Top 10 finishes in the 13 tournaments he\u2019s played this season, winning three of them and bringing his total PGA Tour<\/a> wins to 16. In this tournament, he has only improved over time, with five appearances and the following results from oldest (2020) to most recent (2024): missed cut, 47th, 13th, 4th, and 1st.

One player arriving under pressure this weekend is Rory McIlroy. The Northern Irishman, ranked No. 2 in the world, has not had strong performances lately: he finished 47th at the PGA Championship, missed the cut at the RBC Canadian Open, and placed 19th at the U.S. Open. <\/strong>

The European has claimed three victories this year: the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am in early February, The Players Championship in mid-March, and The Masters in mid-April, completing the PGA Tour Grand Slam with the latter. Since that Augusta win, he\u2019s played in five events and only finished in the Top 10 once.

Finally, we must include last week\u2019s surprise: J.J. Spaun. The American bounced back from a rough start<\/strong>\u2014five bogeys in his first six holes\u2014to win the U.S. Open, his first Major and just his second PGA Tour victory after the 2022 Valero Texas Open. <\/strong>

It\u2019s been a great 2025 for him: in addition to that title, he has finished runner-up twice (including a playoff loss to McIlroy at The Players Championship) and also earned a third and a sixth place, the latter coming at the Charles Schwab Challenge late last month. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

2025 Travelers Championship Outside picks <\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Sepp Straka hasn\u2019t had much luck in the Majors this year, as he\u2019s failed to make the cut in any of them so far. However, he\u2019s still having a strong 2025 season.<\/strong> He won The American Express in January and the Truist Championship in May. Interestingly, he\u2019s followed a pattern in his last four tournaments: Top 10, missed cut, Top 10, missed cut. If that trend continues, he\u2019s due for another Top 10 finish.

One golfer who\u2019s always among the favorites but often ends up disappointing is Collin Morikawa. He started the season strong with two runner-up finishes in his first four tournaments.<\/strong> He followed that with a 10th-place finish, which remains his last Top 10. Most recently, he finished 23rd at the U.S. Open and hasn\u2019t won a title since the 2023 ZOZO CHAMPIONSHIP.

Let\u2019s also include Brian Harman in this group. The winner of this year\u2019s Valero Texas Open, he also placed third at the RBC Heritage. He has a strong track record in this course, though he hasn\u2019t yet taken the top spot.<\/strong> Harman boasts seven Top 10 finishes here, including a second-place in 2023 and a third-place in 2015. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Prize bag <\/h2>\n\n\n\n

This PGA Tour event features a total purse of $20 million. The champion will take home a prize of $3,600,000. Additionally, the winner will earn 700 FedEx Cup points.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
