We\u2019re starting to think maybe the UFC should look into GSP as an opponent for Khabib Nurmagomedov.<\/h5>\n\n\n\n

We get a decent amount of heat around here for continuing to bring up a potential Khabib Nurmagomedov vs. Georges St-Pierre superfight.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But when everyone around Khabib keeps namedropping GSP as the only fighter that\u2019ll get Khabib back into the cage … well, we\u2019re duty-bound to report that to you, no matter how often UFC president Dana White tries to downplay the idea.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The latest exhibit in our exhaustive collection of “Khabib would return to fight St-Pierre” evidence is Nurmagomedov\u2019s head coach, AKA\u2019s Javier Mendez.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cYou guys gotta remember, the key thing is, he\u2019s gotta ask his mother for permission too<\/em>,\u201d Mendez told Submission Radio. \u201cAnd I didn\u2019t see GSP being offered. And I thought the only way he was gonna come out of it was if GSP was in that picture<\/em>.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cBut based what it happened, I don\u2019t see why he would want to come out and fight anybody. Why? Fighting the best is not gonna motivate him. He\u2019s not looking at the money aspect of it. But if they can put GSP, if they can put GSP on the table, maybe there\u2019s a chance there<\/em>.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cAnd I\u2019m not saying it will happen, because I don\u2019t know, but I\u2019m just saying GSP might be the only one. I\u2019ve always thought it was GSP, because that\u2019s what his father wanted, and I think if they can get that one worked out and he can get his mother\u2019s permission, I think that one could work. But I don\u2019t think anybody else is gonna work. Period<\/em>.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIf he asked my opinion, I would say hold out for GSP, or retire<\/em>,\u201d Mendez said. \u201cThat\u2019s what I would tell him. But he\u2019s never asked me, so that conversation never took place<\/em>.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mendez made it clear that White\u2019s attempts to keep pushing Conor McGregor<\/a> weren\u2019t going to pay off.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cYou\u2019re never gonna get that rematch<\/em>,\u201d he said. \u201cJust like you\u2019re never going to get the Tony and Khabib fight. That\u2019s never gonna happen either. It\u2019s not gonna happen. I mean, Khabib doesn\u2019t need it. He seems fulfilled. And like I said, I think the only juicy part for him is what his father wanted, GSP. I\u2019ve said it many times. And who knows, maybe that\u2019s out of the question now<\/em>.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
