The penultimate matchday of the Champions League group stage, Matchday 7, was played and produced the first teams to qualify and be eliminated.

Surprise leaders Arsenal remain at the top with a perfect record and are coming off a 1\u20133 away victory over Inter. The other team to secure direct qualification to the next round was Bayern M\u00fcnchen, who defeated USG 2\u20130.

Among the biggest surprises of the week were Bod\u00f8\/Glimt\u2019s 3\u20131 home win in Norway over Manchester City, and Sporting\u2019s 2\u20131 victory against the reigning champions of the competition, PSG.

There are already four teams eliminated, including Villarreal, who lost at home to Ajax (1\u20132), and Frankfurt, who were defeated away at Qarabag (3\u20132).

Real Madrid had no trouble and put their brief slump behind them by thrashing Monaco 6\u20131 to move very close to direct qualification for the next round.

From the start, the match tilted in favor of the \u2018Blancos\u2019, as just five minutes in, Kylian Mbapp\u00e9 received the ball inside the box and finished first time into the corner to make it 1\u20130.

In the 26th minute, the French forward struck again against his former club after a pass from Vin\u00edcius J\u00fanior, simply tapping the ball in for the 2\u20130.

At the 63rd minute came the goal from the star of the night, Vini Jr., who, after two assists and forcing an own goal, scored himself with a brilliant individual move and a powerful right-footed strike into the top corner.

A defensive gift allowed Jordan Teze to pull one back for Monaco, but in the 80th minute, Jude Bellingham appeared to receive a pass from Federico Valverde, dribble past the goalkeeper, and calmly finish for the final 6\u20131.

With 15 points, Real Madrid climbed to third place and is virtually qualified, while Monaco sits 21st with nine points, currently in the playoff zone. <\/strong>

Arsenal continues to enjoy an incredible season on all fronts, and on this occasion, they defeated Inter 1\u20133 in Milan to maintain their perfect record and secure qualification.

It was a lively first half, with the \u2018Gunners\u2019 taking the lead in the 10th minute when Gabriel Jesus deflected a poor effort from Jurri\u00ebn Timber. The joy did not last long, as in the 18th minute, Petar Su\u010di\u0107 produced a fine finish after a couple of rebounds to make it 1\u20131.

Gabriel Jesus restored the lead for the English side in the 31st minute from a Bukayo Saka corner, which Leandro Trossard headed, glanced off the crossbar, and fell to the Brazilian, who nodded it home for 1\u20132.

The scoreline remained unchanged for a long stretch until the 84th minute, when Viktor Gy\u00f6keres sealed the win after a long pass from Gabriel Martinelli. The Swede attempted to square it for Saka, but the Englishman could not control it, and the ball fell to Gy\u00f6keres at the edge of the box, where he calmly placed it into the corner for 1\u20133.

Arsenal moved to 21 points after seven wins from seven matches, scoring 20 goals and conceding just two, while Inter dropped to 14th place with 12 points and has now lost its last three matches in the competition, the last two of them at home. <\/strong>

Barcelona had a tough time but managed to get the job done against Slavia Praha, defeating them 2\u20134 and moving closer to the direct qualification spots.

It was a complicated match for the Spanish side, who fell behind after 10 minutes following a header by Tom\u00e1\u0161 Hole\u0161 on a corner kick, with Vasil Ku\u0161ej bundling the ball in to make it 1\u20130.

Barcelona kept pushing and pushing until the 34th minute, when Ferm\u00edn L\u00f3pez appeared after a great team move and finished at the near post to make it 1\u20131. A few minutes later, in the 42nd minute, the same player struck again with a powerful shot from outside the box to put his side ahead.

That joy was short-lived, as in the 44th minute, from another corner kick, the ball deflected off Robert Lewandowski to make it 2\u20132.

In the second half, the Catalans attacked from all angles until finally, in the 63rd minute, Dani Olmo, who had come on two minutes earlier due to Pedri\u2019s injury, produced a brilliant curling shot into the top corner from the edge of the box for the 2\u20133.

Lewandowski then provided the insurance goal, controlling a difficult cross from Marcus Rashford and stretching to reach the ball before the goalkeeper to make it 2\u20134.

After that, it was all about holding on in a match that Barcelona controlled but still suffered through. With 13 points, they now sit ninth, just outside the direct qualification spots for the next round. Bayern M\u00fcnchen defeated Union Saint-Gilloise 2\u20130 to secure qualification for the next round.

The hero of the night was Harry Kane, who scored a brace in a three-minute burst. The first came in the 52nd minute with a header from a corner kick, while the second followed in the 55th minute from the penalty spot after he was fouled himself.

The English striker had the chance to take the match ball home, but in the 81st minute, his penalty struck the post when the German side were already down to ten men following the red card shown to Min-jae Kim.

The 2\u20130 result was enough for Bayern to reach 18 points and clinch qualification to the next phase with a match to spare, while USG sits 31st with six points but still has a chance to reach the playoffs. <\/strong>
