This venue has a North and a South Course, with the former measuring 7,258 yards and the latter 7,765 yards, both playing to a par of 72.

American Harris English is the most recent champion. Tiger Woods is the most successful player in this event with seven titles, the last one coming in 2013, and four consecutive victories between 2005 and 2008. He also shares the course record of 266 strokes with George Burns.

2026 Farmers Insurance Open Top Contenders <\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The golfers are still just warming up, and one of those arriving with strong chances to take the title is Xander Schauffele. The American makes his debut this year after a 2025 season that did not go as he had hoped.

After winning two Majors in 2024, he nearly went winless last year, but finally captured his only title in the final tournament he played: the Baycurrent Classic in mid-September.<\/strong> Before that, he finished seventh at The Open and eighth at both the Masters and the Genesis Scottish Open. This year, he is motivated to build on his achievements over the past 12 months and return to competing for a Major.

It is also worth noting that he was runner-up in this tournament in 2021, finishing five strokes behind Patrick Reed, and that the last time he played it, in 2024, he placed ninth. He has played this event nine times and failed to make the cut in four of his first five appearances.

Second on this shortlist of contenders is Ludvig Aberg. The Swede has already played officially in 2026, taking part in the first two rounds of The American Express, but withdrew due to illness.

The 26-year-old golfer earned his second PGA Tour title last year by winning the Genesis Invitational in mid-February, and also recorded five other top-10 finishes, highlighted by a fifth place at The Sentry and a seventh at the Masters<\/strong>. He has played this tournament in each of the past two years, finishing ninth in 2024 and 42nd in 2025.

Lastly, we include the defending champion, Harris English. 2025 was an outstanding year for him. Not only did he win the Farmers Insurance Open, his fifth PGA Tour title, but he also finished runner-up in two Majors: the PGA Championship and The Open Championship,<\/strong> both behind Scottie Scheffler. He has already teed it up in 2026, finishing 27th at The American Express with a score of 271, 17 under par.

In addition to that title, English has performed very well on this course, as he came close to winning it in 2015 but lost in a playoff to Jason Day. This will be his 13th appearance in this tournament. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

2026 Farmers Insurance Open Outside picks <\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Among the other favorites, we find Cameron Young, who will be playing his first tournament of 2026. Last year, he claimed his first PGA Tour title at the Wyndham Championship and recorded seven other top-10 finishes, highlighted by a fourth-place finish at the U.S. Open.<\/strong>He has not played this tournament since 2022, when he finished 20th with a score of 278.

Jason Day is another former champion in the field. Winner of the 2015 and 2018 editions, the Australian has not lifted a trophy since 2023. However, he has already teed it up in 2026 and finished second at The American Express, four strokes behind Scottie Scheffler.<\/strong>In addition to his two victories at this event, he also has a runner-up finish, a third place, and a fifth place, making this one of his favorite courses.

One of the surprises of 2025 was J.J. Spaun. The 35-year-old American golfer captured his second career title, and it was none other than the U.S. Open<\/strong>. Beyond that, he finished runner-up three more times and third once, proving a consistently high level of play. He has already competed in 2026, finishing 40th at the Sony Open in Hawaii. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
