Who is Italo Ferreira?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

This question may seem a bit out of place or silly to many people, because who has not heard of this great Brazilian surfer who is currently considered the second-best surfer in the world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But, for those who do not know who he is, Italo Ferreira is a Brazilian professional surfer who was born on May 6, 1994, who has competed in the World Surfing League Men’s CT since 2015. Ferreira is the World Surf League champion 2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

His beginnings in the world of surfing<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

His beginnings were in the small community of Ba\u00eda Formosa, Rio Grande do Norte<\/strong>, one of the 26 states of Brazil<\/strong>. It was in this small town that Ferreira<\/strong> fell in love with the waves, conquered the world with his relentless surfing to become a legend.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

His parents did not have the financial resources to buy him a board, so Italo<\/strong> surfed only when his cousins \u200b\u200bloaned him their boards, and it was there, at only 12 years old, that the then Oakley<\/strong> marketing director, Luiz “Pinga” Campos<\/strong>, discovered and supported him to start his incredible career.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ferreira<\/strong> won two rounds of the Pro Junior World Championship<\/strong> in 2011, he was the champion of Brazil<\/strong> and, in 2014 he qualified for the CT<\/strong> of the World Surf League<\/strong>, the elite of world surfing. His debut year in the CT<\/strong>, in 2015, led him to consecrate himself after being rookie of the year and with an excellent 7th place in the world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The 2019 world champion, Italo Ferreira<\/strong>, is considered one of the most explosive surfers in the CT<\/strong>. The Brazilian will soon focus all his energies to leave his country in style when he represents them at the Tokyo 2020 Summer Olympics<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Since Ferreira<\/strong> began his journey within the CT<\/strong>, many considered him a great threat, including his great idol Mick Fanning<\/strong>. But, after his rookie year, Ferreira<\/strong> suffered some ups and downs that led him to fall many positions in the table of the best surfers in the world. In 2016 he had interesting points after reaching the semifinals at Bells<\/strong> and Margaret River<\/strong>, but he was stopped in the fifth round of different championships on 7 consecutive occasions and fell to number 15.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After suffering an injury in 2017, which took him away from his main rivals, Ferreira<\/strong> had three consecutive victories in 2018, in the Bells, Keramas, and Supertubos<\/strong> events, climbing to number 4.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Finally, in 2019, Italo Ferreira<\/strong>, had an impressive rebound, finishing in second place in France<\/strong> and the MEO Rip Curl Pro Portugal<\/strong> ahead of the Billabong Pipe Masters<\/strong>. Later in Pipe, Ferreira<\/strong> showed all the class that characterizes him and won the world title despite the pressure exerted by his compatriot Gabriel Medina<\/strong>. Ferreira’s<\/strong> contagious personality and his palpable passion for riding his board made him one of the most popular World Champions<\/strong> of recent times.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
