With two international surfing events, Ecuador is preparing for its debut in the World Surf League. Monta\u00f1ita and Salinas, two iconic Ecuadorian beaches, are preparing to host the Qualifying Series QS1000 championship for the first time since the ASP changed its name to WSL in 2014. From June 16 to 20, the “WSL Monta\u00f1ita Corona Open” will be held in the shortboard Olympic division, and consecutively the second stop, from June 23 to 27, the “WSL Salinas Corona Open” on the beach of the FAE resort. These two open QS1000 tournaments will be the only preparation events for the 2020+1 Tokyo Olympic Games, where the surfing discipline will make its debut. Surfers from Brazil, Argentina, Chile, Peru, Colombia, Panama, Costa Rica, USA, Puerto Rico, and Ecuador will participate in the two consecutive WSL professional championships, which award points for the regional and world rankings, to qualify for the events of the highest WCT division. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
