The US Open<\/strong> of Surfing Huntington Beach presented by Shiseido is the first stop on the 2021 Challenger Series<\/strong>. It is also the latest version of one of the most iconic events in professional surfing. The stakes couldn’t be higher in Huntington, as qualification for the 2022 Championship Tour<\/strong> is on the line. With CT stars and rising talent from the Qualifying Series all going head to head at Surf City USA. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The US Open<\/strong> of Surfing Huntington Beach<\/strong> by Shiseido will take place September 20-26 and will stream live on Worldsurfleague.com<\/a>. The first of four Challenger Series<\/strong> events this year; there are 10,000 qualifying points on the table for whoever can make the podium. The fields of 96 men and 64 women are comprised of Championship Tour surfers, as well as competitors from the seven WSL<\/strong> Regional Qualifying Series around the world.

On the men’s side of the draw, some of this year’s top CT seeds include Conner Coffin<\/strong>, who just finished fourth at the inaugural Rip Curl WSL Finals<\/strong>, along with Griffin Colapinto and Huntington<\/strong>, local and two-time US Open<\/strong> winner Kanoa Igarashi<\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

On the women’s side, CT surfers Caroline Marks, Isabella Nichols, Keely Andrew, Brisa Hennessy<\/strong>, hometown favorite and former Open winner Courtney Conlogue<\/strong> and defending 2019 event winner Sage Erickson<\/strong> are all set to attend. In the Challenger Series, surfers compete for the chance to advance to the Elite Championship Tour in 2022<\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

For the men, that means finishing in the top 12. For the women, a top 6 finish in this year’s condensed four-event season awards a spot to the big leagues.
