The results from the 23rd matchday of the Brasileirão unfolded largely as expected, with most favorites winning their matches. The exception was an upset caused by the second-placed team, which we anticipated would happen.
All four of the top teams secured victories, further solidifying their positions, and it is evident that there is a significant gap between the top three teams and the rest of the league, with the competition for the top spots intensifying.
Now, let’s take a closer look at the results from these matches before we discuss what lies ahead in the remaining fixtures of what has been an exciting Brasileirão season.

Brasileirão Jornada 23: Palmeiras vs Internacional
Palmeiras -154 | Internacional +482 | Draw Offs:+279 |
Palmeiras entered the match determined to make an impact, quickly taking control and dominating their opponents from the start. Vitor Roque scored his first goal in the 4th minute, followed by a second in the 24th minute, and completed his hat trick with a third goal in the 43rd minute. Lucas Evangelista also found the net, scoring in the 29th minute. By the end of the first half, Palmeiras had established a commanding lead. However, Internacional managed to score in the 72nd minute, preventing Palmeiras from finishing the match with a clean sheet.
Brasileirão Jornada 23: Juventud vs Flamengo
Juventude +700 | Flamenco -233 | Draw Offs:+361 |
Flamengo secured a crucial away victory over Juventude, snapping a long winless run at Alfredo Jaconi and tightening their grip on the top of the table. The visitors were in control for much of the match, with goals from Giorgian De Arrascaeta and Emerson Royal sealing a 2-0 win.
Flamengo had not won at Juventude’s ground in 28 years until this match, breaking a psychological barrier and boosting their momentum.
Juventude tried to defend deep but lacked cohesion in transitions; their few attacks ended without danger. With only one shot on target in this match and generally a weak attacking output throughout the season, Juventude’s offensive limitations make coming back in matches against strong teams unlikely.
Brasileirão Jornada 23: São Paulo vs Botafogo
São Paulo +126 | Botafogo +263 | Draw Offs:+209 |
This match was São Paulo’s chance to catch up to Botafogo in the standings, and they seized it by entering the field with determination and scoring their first goal in the 7th minute. That early goal rattled Botafogo, who were in 6th place, as they attempted to respond and equalize. However, they were unable to score throughout the remainder of the match, allowing the hosts to celebrate their victory.
Brasileirão Jornada 23: Bahía vs Cruzeiro
Bahia +137 | Cruzeiro +229 | Draw Offs:+217 |
The match was intriguing, as the odds favored the home team, Bahia, who maintained control throughout most of the game. Bahia had possession of the ball for 63% of the match and took the lead with a goal in the 66th minute. However, Cruzeiro, currently ranked 2nd in the league, responded decisively with a goal in the 77th minute, followed by another in the 86th minute. In this clash, precision triumphed over aggression, allowing the second-placed team to secure the three points and head home victorious.
