Manchester City is the Champions League champion! A solitary goal by Rodri gave the long-awaited title to the English team that, after many millions, finally conquered Europe.

The Citizens were not the superior and devastating team they had shown throughout the season and needed a rebound and some great saves by Ederson to win 1-0 against a Nerazurro team that played very well, especially in the first half, but failed a lot when it came to finishing.

Manchester City vs. Inter: Primera mitad

Manchester City was the clear favorite and, before the game, most people thought they were going to dominate and win easily, but the opposite was true. The match started in Istanbul and the team led by Pep Guardiola could not find the way, while Inter surprised and took advantage of the mistakes of the English defense. Lautaro Martinez almost scored the first, as, while Ederson was one of the heroes of the night, he had a shaky first half.

Erling Haaland, que no había podido marcar ante el Real Madrid en las semifinales y tampoco en la final de la FA Cup ante el Manchester United, tuvo su oportunidad en la primera parte, pero André Onana detuvo su disparo.

The first half was quite boring, without many emotions and the only thing that can be highlighted is the injury of Kevin De Bruyne, who once again had to leave due to injury in una final de la liga de campeones as he did 2 years ago against Chelsea.

One thing we must highlight is the poor state of the pitch. As both teams’ players were slipping a lot since the first seconds. We cannot blame the lack of technical spectacularity of the duel on that, but it was a determinant factor, as both teams found it very difficult to dribble and be precise at some moments.

Manchester City vs. Inter: Segunda mitad

In the second half, Manchester City tried to tilt the field to their side and was able to score in the 68th minute after a cross from Bernardo Silva that bounced off Francesco Acerbi and was perfect for Rodri that, almost on the edge of the area, kick the ball with his right foot and defined very well to the side to make it 1-0.

After that, it was the Neroazzurri who tried their best to equalize and came incredibly close but, surprisingly, Romelu Lukaku was the best defender for the Citizens. The last 27 minutes of the match were the best without question, as Inter’s shambolic mistakes and City’s heroics at the back had everyone at the edge of their seats.

In the 70th minute, Federico Dimarco had two headers: one hit the crossbar and on the rebound, he headed again for Lukaku to stop it on his way to the goal. Towards the end of the game, the Belgian striker headed alone inside the six-yard box, but his shot went to the center where Ederson was, who saved the ball with his leg for Ruben Días to Miraculously send it to a corner.

In the last play of the match, almost in the sixth minute of added time, Robin Gosens headed a corner kick that the Brazilian goalkeeper saved wonderfully and that was the end of the match. Manchester City are champions!

Manchester City vs. Inter: Final Analysis

Undoubtedly, Inter played a great match and did not deserve to lose, at least to tie the game and take it to extra time, but the lack of efficiency in finishing took its toll on them. City had a great tournament and had left Real Madrid and Bayern Munich, among others, on the way, so it is a more than-deserved title.

For their part, the Citizens achieved a historic treble after winning the Premier League and the FA Cup, while Pep Guardiola won his third Champions League.

Erling Haaland is the top scorer of the tournament with 12 goals, while De Bruyne is the top assisting player with 6.

This is the 15th title for an English team, and they are closing in on Spain, the leader in this category with 19. Italy is third with 12.
