The world’s best golfers reunite once again, this time for the 2025 Memorial Tournament presented by Workday, a Signature Event set to be played at Muirfield Village Golf Club in Dublin, Ohio, from May 29 to June 1.
This par-72, 7,392-yard course was designed by Jack Nicklaus. It is one of only five PGA Tour events with invitational status, meaning the field is limited to just 72 golfers.
Last year’s winner was Scottie Scheffler, who finished at 8-under and edged out Collin Morikawa by one stroke. He became the first golfer to win five tournaments in a season before the U.S. Open since Tom Watson did it in 1980. Tiger Woods holds the record for most wins at this tournament, with five titles.

Scottie Scheffler, defending champion and world number 1, arrives as the top favorite. After a slow start to the season where he struggled to secure a win, he bounced back with consecutive victories at THE CJ CUP Byron Nelson and the PGA Championship, bringing his total to 15 Gira de la PGA titles and three Major wins.
He’s coming off a fourth-place finish last week at the Charles Schwab Challenge and has recorded six straight Top 10 finishes—eight total this year in 11 events played. Scheffler has competed in this tournament four times; in addition to last year’s win, he finished third in both 2023 and 2021.
Though not listed among the top favorites, Sepp Straka has been one of the standout players in 2025.He won The American Express in January and recently captured the Truist Championship, a Signature Event, marking the fourth win of his career.
He also has two other Top 10 finishes this season. However, he has struggled in the Majors, missing the cut in both so far. Last year, he had his best showing at this tournament, finishing in fifth place.
Lastly, Collin Morikawa is seeking a return to the winner’s circle after nearly two years without a title—his last win came at the 2023 ZOZO CHAMPIONSHIP. He was runner-up at this event in both 2024 and 2021, but in his other three appearances, he failed to perform at the same level.
In 2025, he got off to a solid start with second-place finishes at The Sentry and the Arnold Palmer Invitational. A 10th-place finish at THE PLAYERS Championship and a 14th at the Masters also stand out, but he’s coming off a disappointing 50th-place result at the PGA Championship.

Much more was expected from Xander Schauffele in 2025 following the two Majors he won last year. So far this season, he has only managed one Top 10 finish, which came recently at the Masters. He has played this tournament seven times; only in his debut in 2018 did he miss the cut. His best result came last year when he finished eighth.
Justin Thomas is one of the most experienced and decorated players on the field. The 32-year-old American has 16 PGA Tour victories. In 2025, he won the RBC Heritage and finished runner-up three times—at The American Express, the Valspar Championship, and the Truist Championship. He hasn’t had much recent success at this course, with his best showing being a fourth-place finish in 2017.
Hideki Matsuyama is another top player participating in this tournament. The Japanese golfer, with 11 PGA Tour wins, had a strong start to 2025 by winning The Sentry, the first event of the year. However, he hasn’t cracked the Top 10 since. He won this tournament in 2014, the first time he played it, and has posted three additional Top 10s, the most recent one coming last year.
