Bayern Munich made it 16 wins in 16 matches this season after defeating Paris Saint-Germain 1-2 in France.

Luis Díaz was both the hero and the villain of the night, scoring a brace but also getting sent off just before halftime.

The Colombian opened the scoring just four minutes in, pouncing on a rebound from the goalkeeper after a shot by Michael Olise. Then, in the 32nd minute, he stole the ball from Marquinhos, went one-on-one with Lucas Chevalier, and finished brilliantly into the corner.

Everything was going perfectly for Díaz, who had just become the top Colombian scorer in Champions League history and the fastest to score in a match, but in stoppage time, he got tangled with Achraf Hakimi, locking his leg during a challenge and injuring the Moroccan defender. After a VAR review, his yellow card was upgraded to a red.

In the second half, it was all PSG, who threw everything at Bayern’s goal, forcing Manuel Neuer to make several crucial saves. A cross from Kang-in Lee found João Neves, who connected with an acrobatic half-volley to make it 1-2 in the 74th minute.

PSG kept pressing but couldn’t find the equalizer, losing their unbeaten record and dropping to fifth place with nine points. Bayern, meanwhile, remains perfect with 12 out of 12, scoring 14 goals and conceding just three.

Result: PSG 1-2 Bayern

Champions League Matchday 4: Liverpool vs. Real Madrid

The worst Liverpool in recent years faced the best Real Madrid of the past few seasons, and beat them 1-0 in England.

There was a lot of anticipation for this match, with many expecting the Spanish side to make a statement at Anfield, given their impressive form and a red-hot Kylian Mbappé. Meanwhile, the ‘Reds’ had lost six of their last eight games.

But it turned out quite the opposite. Liverpool came out strong and created numerous chances, forcing Thibaut Courtois into a starring performance with eight saves on the night.

The only player able to beat the Belgian was Alexis Mac Allister, who scored with a header from a Dominik Szoboszlai corner in the 61st minute. Interestingly, the Argentine had also scored against this same opponent last year.

The ‘Reds’ ended the ‘Blancos’ unbeaten run, and now both teams sit on nine points, in eighth and seventh place, respectively.

Result: Liverpool 1-0 Real Madrid

Champions League Matchday 4: Club Brugge 3-3 Barcelona

In a thrilling match full of excitement, controversy, and goals, Club Brugge and Barcelona drew 3-3 in Belgium.

The Spanish side once again played with a very high defensive line, and the Belgians took advantage by sending through balls to beat the offside trap. That’s how the first goal arrived just six minutes in, a perfectly timed pass found Carlos Forbs, who squared the ball for Nicolo Tresoldi arriving through the middle, sliding in to open the scoring.

The home fans didn’t celebrate for long, as right from the kickoff, Lamine Yamal played a long pass to Fermín López, who set up Ferran Torres to finish first-time for the 1-1 equalizer.

In the 17th minute, a Barcelona corner led to a brilliant Brugge counterattack. Forbs and Christos Tzolis exchanged a quick one-two near midfield, and the Portuguese forward sprinted toward goal to calmly slot home for 2-1.

Barcelona created several chances, but poor finishing and the woodwork denied them. It wasn’t until the 61st minute that Lamine Yamal produced a stunning solo play reminiscent of Lionel Messi: he passed to Fermín, who returned it with a clever backheel, and Yamal fired into the corner for a spectacular 2-2.

The Belgians refused to give up. Just a minute later, Forbs missed a golden chance in front of goal, but he made amends almost immediately. In the next minute, a long ball from Hans Vanaken from beyond midfield caught Barcelona’s defense completely out of position, and Forbs raced clear to delicately chip it in for 3-2, completing a superb night with a brace and an assist.

Barcelona kept pushing and finally found the equalizer in the 77th minute when Yamal sent in a cross that Tzolis accidentally deflected into his own net.

In stoppage time, Brugge thought they had pulled off a dramatic winner through Romeo Vermant, but the goal was disallowed for a foul on Wojciech Szczęsny as he was dispossessed.

In the end, the thrilling 3-3 draw leaves Brugge in 22nd place with four points, while Barcelona sits 11th with seven.

Result: Club Brugge 3-3 Barcelona

Manchester City were a steamroller, crushing Borussia Dortmund 4-1 and handing them their first defeat of the tournament.

Phil Foden gave an early warning in the 10th minute with a powerful strike from outside the box that was saved by the goalkeeper. Twelve minutes later, the Englishman tried again from distance, this time placing a low shot into the corner to open the scoring.

Seven minutes later, it was Erling Haaland’s turn to score against his former team. The Norwegian received a pass from Jérémy Doku completely unmarked in the box and blasted the ball past the keeper for 2-0.

In the second half, Foden struck again with a precise shot into the corner to make it 3-0 and seal the game, a match that could easily have seen more goals for the ‘Citizens’.

In the 72nd minute, a quickly taken free kick ended with a cross from Julian Ryerson and a finish by Waldemar Anton to pull one back, but it was nothing more than a mirage.

In stoppage time, Rayan Cherki produced a brilliant solo play, driving into the box and finishing low into the corner to complete the 4-1 rout.

Manchester City climbed to fourth place with 10 points and remains unbeaten, while Borussia Dortmund dropped to 14th, with 11 goals conceded, one of the worst defensive records in the competition.
