Week 2 of the NFL season came to a close, bringing both positive and negative surprises and leaving 10 teams with two wins.

In the NFC, the Green Bay Packers lead the conference after their victory over the Washington Commanders, while in the AFC, the Buffalo Bills have positioned themselves as strong contenders.

In the big game of the week, the Kansas City Chiefs hosted the Philadelphia Eagles in a Super Bowl rematch, and the Eagles once again struck a blow to Patrick Mahomes and company, defeating them once more.

Resumen de la semana 2 de la NFL: Green Bay Packers vs. Washington Commanders

The Green Bay Packers continue to make headlines at the start of this season, defeating last year’s surprise team, the Washington Commanders, by 27–18.

The Packers scored in every quarter to secure their second win in as many games. Jordan Love posted a 61% completion rate with 19 completions on 31 attempts, tallying 292 yards and two touchdowns caught by Tucker Kraft and Romeo Doubs. Additionally, he wasn’t intercepted and was sacked only twice.

The team’s other touchdown came on the ground from Josh Jacobs on one of his 23 carries. Brandon McManus also contributed with two field goals out of three attempts, along with all three extra points.

On the Commanders’ side, Jayden Daniels completed 24 of 42 passes for 200 yards and two touchdowns scored by Deebo Samuel and Zach Ertz.

As we can see, the quarterbacks were evenly matched, but the difference came on the ground. While Green Bay rushed for 135 yards on 30 attempts, Washington managed just 51 yards on 19 carries.

The Packers are the only team in the NFC North with a 2-0 record.

Result: Packers 27 – 18 Commanders

The Detroit Lions bounced back from their first loss and crushed their division rival, the Chicago Bears, 52–21.

It was an incredible afternoon for Jared Goff. The Lions’ quarterback posted an 82% completion rate with 23 completions on 28 attempts and an impressive five touchdowns. Goff threw for 334 yards, with Amon-Ra St. Brown as his best partner, hauling in nine catches for 115 yards and three touchdowns.

The other passing touchdowns went to Brock Wright and Jameson Williams, while Jahmyr Gibbs and David Montgomery added scores on the ground.

On defense, Kerby Joseph recorded an interception, while the rest of the unit tallied four sacks.

As for the Bears, it was their second straight loss. Caleb Williams had a solid game with 207 yards and two touchdowns, completing 19 of 30 passes, but the defense gave him no help, failing to record a sack or interception.

Rome Odunze scored both receiving touchdowns, while D’Andre Swift added one more on the ground.

Result: Lions 52 – 21 Bears

The Buffalo Bills are another team that moved to 2-0 to start the season after a commanding 10–30 road win over the New York Jets.

With a strong ground game, the Bills scored in every quarter to secure the victory. Josh Allen completed 14 of 25 passes for 148 yards with no touchdowns, but he added 59 rushing yards, including a 40-yard run.

The standout performer was running back James Cook, who had 21 carries for 132 yards and two touchdowns. He became the first Bills RB to score rushing touchdowns in six straight regular-season games since 1988. Elijah Moore scored the other touchdown.

On defense, Buffalo recorded four sacks, two each against Justin Fields and Tyrod Taylor, while A.J. Epenesa recovered a fumble. Kicker Matt Prater also converted three field goals.

For the Jets, it was their second straight home loss. Between Fields and Taylor, they combined for only 10 completions on 22 attempts for 83 yards. Fields left the game with a head injury after completing just 3 of 11 passes for 27 yards, finishing with a 1.1 QBR, one of the worst quarterback performances in the modern NFL era.

The Jets’ lone touchdown came from tight end Jeremy Ruckert in the fourth quarter.

Result: Jets 10 – 30 Bills

The last Super Bowl featured a rematch, with the Philadelphia Eagles defeating the Kansas City Chiefs on their home turf, 20–17.

It was a great start for the Eagles, who picked up their second win behind a strong performance from Jalen Hurts. The quarterback completed 15 of 22 passes for 101 yards with no interceptions, while also adding nine carries for 15 yards and one of the team’s two touchdowns. The other score came from none other than Saquon Barkley.

On defense, safety Andrew Mukuba recorded an interception, while the team added two sacks.

For the Chiefs, it marked a second straight loss, six in total if you count the Super Bowl and the three preseason games. They haven’t started a season with two consecutive defeats since 2014, when they lost to the Titans and Broncos.

Patrick Mahomes completed 16 of 29 passes for 187 yards, was intercepted once, and threw a touchdown pass to Tyquan Thornton, while also running in another score. It was Mahomes’ fifth straight game with both a passing and rushing touchdown.

Result: Chiefs 17 – 20 Eagles
