Week 5 of the NFL has wrapped up with plenty of surprises, as both main contenders and only remaining unbeaten teams suffered their first losses.
In the NFC, the defending champions, the Philadelphia Eagles, fell to the Denver Broncos after a disastrous fourth quarter, while in the AFC, the Buffalo Bills lost on the final play against the New England Patriots.
In one of the wildest and funniest games, the Tennessee Titans earned their first win versus the Arizona Cardinals, while the Indianapolis Colts crushed the Las Vegas Raiders and now sit atop the AFC.
Meanwhile, the Baltimore Ravens suffered their third straight loss—this time without Lamar Jackson, who was injured—falling at home to the Houston Texans, who humiliated them 10-44.

Semana 5 de la NFL: Los Angeles Rams 23-26 San Francisco 49ers
A field goal by Eddy Pineiro in overtime was enough for the San Francisco 49ers (4-1) to defeat the Los Angeles Rams (3-2) 23-26 on the road and break the tie at the top of the NFC West.
It was a great quarterback battle. On the Rams’ side, Matthew Stafford completed 30 of 47 passes for 389 yards and three touchdowns. Mientras tanto, Mac Jones showed he can play, completing 33 of 49 passes for 342 yards and two touchdowns. Neither was intercepted, and each was sacked only once. Stafford also leads all quarterbacks in passing yards (1,503).
Tight end Jake Tonges scored one of the touchdowns, while Christian McCaffrey had the other. The running back also had 22 rushing attempts but managed only 57 yards. The star of Thursday night was Pineiro. The kicker scored 14 of the team’s 26 points with four field goals—one from 59 yards and the last from 41 yards that bounced off the post before going in—along with two extra points.
For the Rams, Puka Nacua scored again and now leads the league in receptions (52) and receiving yards (588). The other two touchdowns came from Kyren Williams.
Semana 5 de la NFL: Philadelphia Eagles 17–21 Denver Broncos
The defending champions, the Philadelphia Eagles (4-1), were stunned at home by the Denver Broncos (3-2), who won 17–21 after scoring 18 points in the fourth quarter and not allowing any.
It was a strange game, as the Broncos started with a field goal from Wil Lutz, but then everything went Philadelphia’s way. The Eagles tied the game in the first quarter and scored a touchdown in each of the next two quarters—both through the air—via Dallas Goedert and Saquon Barkley.
However, in the final quarter, J.K. Dobbins scored on the ground and Evan Engram added one through the air, while Troy Franklin completed a two-point conversion and Lutz kicked another field goal.
Among the quarterbacks, Bo Nix completed 24 of 39 passes for 242 yards with no interceptions, while Jalen Hurts went 23 of 38 for 280 yards, also without interceptions, but was sacked six times.
The Broncos now sit second in the AFC West, tied with the Los Angeles Chargers, while the Eagles remain atop the NFC West.
Semana 5 de la NFL: Seattle Seahawks 35–38 Tampa Bay Buccaneers
The Seattle Seahawks (3-2) had a disastrous final minute, allowing 10 points and ultimately losing at home to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (4-1) 35–38.
It was a great and very even game, but everything was decided in the fourth quarter. The Seahawks scored two touchdowns and, with 3:18 remaining, were leading 35–28. But in the final minute, Sterling Shepard scored, and the game was tied after the extra point, while on the final play, Chase McLaughlin kicked a field goal to give his team the win.
Baker Mayfield had an excellent game, completing 29 of 33 passes with no interceptions, throwing for 379 yards and two touchdowns—one of them caught by rookie Emeka Egbuka, who now has five this season. The Ohio State wide receiver is averaging one touchdown every five receptions. Running back Rachaad White also scored twice on 14 carries.
Sam Darnold had a great game as well, completing 28 of 34 passes for 341 yards and four touchdowns, though he was intercepted once.
Tight end AJ Barner caught two touchdown passes on seven receptions, while Jaxon Smith-Njigba and rookie Tory Horton scored the other two. On the ground, Zach Charbonnet added another rushing touchdown.
The Buccaneers lead the NFC South, while the Seahawks sit second in the NFC West.
Semana 5 de la NFL: Buffalo Bills 20–23 New England Patriots
One of the biggest surprises of the weekend was the home loss of the previously unbeaten Buffalo Bills (4-1) to the New England Patriots (3-2). It was a very close 20–23 game decided in the last play.
The hero of the night was Venezuelan rookie kicker Andrés Borregales, who nailed a 52-yard field goal with 15 seconds left to seal the game.
It was a very good and evenly matched battle between Josh Allen and Drake Maye. The Bills quarterback completed 22 of 31 passes for 253 yards and two touchdowns, while the Patriots quarterback went 22 of 30 for 273 yards, though he didn’t throw a touchdown pass.
The key moment came in the third quarter when Marcus Jones intercepted Allen as Buffalo was close to scoring, with the Patriots leading 10–13 at the time.
The touchdowns for the home team both came through the air, scored by Curtis Samuel and Keon Coleman, while the visitors scored twice on the ground—both from Rhamondre Stevenson, his first two of the season.
