Resumen y predicciones de UFC 271

This weekend we had an interesting event in the UFC 271, as we had a tactical approach from the defending and still current champion, and an exciting upset on the Co-Main Event.

We are going to dive into what happened in each of the 5 matches we previously gave our predictions for and break down what we saw from the fighters and what is in store for us at a later time.

UFC 271 Round-Up – Adesanya vs. Whittaker 2 – Review and Fight Analysis

Adesanya vs. Whittaker: El Campeón defiende el cinturón.

Nuestra elección: Israel Adesanya

Resultado: Israel Adesanya wins via Unanimous Decision after 5 rounds.

Sin embargo, Whittaker secured his first takedown of the fight and regained some momentum.

The crowd was on fire.

La pelea fue el fuego.

Tuivasa mostró algunas arrugas nuevas en su juego, esquivando tiros importantes y no participando totalmente en intercambios de asesinato, muerte y muerte.

Tai was having a hard time during the first round, having to focus on the clinch work as Luis hizo difícil poner algo en marcha.

Luis controló la posición cuando llegaron al suelo, descargando fuertes tiros como Tuivasa made his way back to his feet.

The second round was at first showing more of the same, with Luis controlling the positioning and trying to go in for the kill.

Luis‘ rushed approach was the downfall, as Tuiviasa got the best of the exchange and rushed him into the cage to mix it up with shots and elbows, managing to KO the Black Beast out Cold.

Cannonier vs. Brunson: 1 Shot marked the beginning of the end.

Our Pick: Jared Cannonier

The Outcome: Jared Cannonier via KO by Elbows on 4:29 of the 2nd Round

‘The Killa Gorilla’ looked bad until he didn’t.

Derek Brunson had a great first round and looked to be in control, but all it took was one big shot to change up the dynamic.

Proving, as it was mentioned in our prediction article, that he has the biggest KO Power on the Middleweight division, he pounded Brunson out and cemented himself as the next title challenger.

Phillips vs Rojo: An Excellent display of Mixed Martial Arts

Our Prediction: Kyler Phillips

The Outcome: Kyler Phillips via Triangle-Armbar at 1:48 of the 3rd round

Kyler Phillips gave us a fun fight to watch.

The 26-year-old bantamweight rebounded from his loss to Raulian Paiva with a comprehensive display of MMA contra Marcelo Rojo

Phillips bossed the fight on the feet and had Rojo’s lead leg jacked up through a steady diet of kicks, then he took the fight to the mat in the 3rd round and transitioned from a triangle to the fight-ending armbar.

Phillips is a dangerous opponent for damn near anyone at this weight class.

Green vs. Haqparast: Possibly Green’s best performance to date.

Our Prediction: Bobby Green

The Outcome: Bobby Green Via Unanimous Decision

“This one should come down to which Green turns up.”

That is the first line of our prediction on this fight, and it sure was right, as Bobby Green may have put forth his best UFC performance yet, and that’s saying something.

Again we see the same old hands low, odd jabby stuff, and Nasrat Haqparast had no real answer for it.

Haqparast had his moments, but Green touched him up on the regular and took a dominant decision.

The Aftermath – The Next Middleweight Title Fight is already set:

Our predictions landed 4 out of 5 matches correctly in this UFC 271, but there is nothing to be mad about as watching the upset from Tai Tuivasa and the shoey afterward may have been the highlight of the event in my personal opinion.

As Dana White confirmed on the post-fight interviews, next time we watch adesanya on the Ring, he will be defending his title against Jared Cannonier.

With both fighters winning their respective matches tonight, it shouldn’t be too long before we get a date set up for this match.
