That number, the lowest in the NFL, is the entire reason this offseason looked the way it did. Odighizuwa arrives via trade to strengthen the interior, and the 49ers used third and fourth-round picks on edge rusher Romello Height and defensive tackle Gracen Halton, who has been one of the most disruptive interior rushers in camp. Morris has talked about more versatility in the front, and Lynch was blunt that everything for this team starts with making life miserable up front. Both teams finished 12-5 last season and both were knocked out by Seattle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The matchup history favors San Francisco more than the number suggests. Mac Jones started both meetings against the Rams last season and the 49ers still moved the ball efficiently through the air, posting a positive EPA per play in Week 5 against a secondary that has since been rebuilt around Trent McDuffie. Purdy is a clear upgrade on that.
